How many facial moisturizers do you own?
Beautiful with Brains says: three. One with spf for the day, one with retinol for nighttime and an Aveeno one I had to stop using cos it broke me out so bad! I also have several sample size moisturizers lying around in my drawers. But I usually only buy a new full size facial moisturizer when I run out it. I don’t see the point in owning a lot of them. You only use one or two at a time and if you own too many you risk them going bad before you have a chance to use them.

Hi Addy, retinol is a form of Vitamin A and a very powerful antioxidant. It is one of the very few ingredients that only prevents wrinkles from forming but also reduces those that already exist, although it takes ages to see a small improvement. It works, but don’t expect miracles overnight! It also works at reducing pigmentation.
However, it is best used at night as the sun can deactivate it. Also, it needs to be stabilized in the formula to be effective and it oxidizes overtime so avoid products that come in jar or the constant exposure to light and air will reduce its benefits overtime.

But I usually use 2 – one in the day for moisturizing (I’m not fussed about SPF coz I use a separate sunscreen) and one in the night for “repair” coz I’m getting old

Paris, you’re still very young and beautiful! And that’s great that you use sunscreen daily.
I tend to use it every day but now the weather’s so dark and gloomy I sometimes skip it as in this climate a moisturizer with SPF applied liberally will probably be enough. 
Let me go check… I have around 10. Yep, that’s a lot.

Trisha, that is a lot indeed. But it can be hard sometimes to resist buying a new one.
I normally use two and they’re both pretty light in texture. I’ve always wanted to try more moisturizing creams at night, but they always seem to clog my pores & break me out. So I just double the application. I hate Aveeno moisturizers! They never work for me, sadly.

Dee, I’m sorry Aveeno moisturizers don’t work for you either. I had heard good things about them and the formula seemed good, but it gave me one of the worst break out I ever had. Which reminds me, I have to write about it soon…
Just two and a trial size! Love Origins for overnight, and a Boots No7 for during the day. Have a trial size of a Boots No7 Overnight cream, not yet used it. I do use a tinted moisturiser in the summer when I need a bit of colour, but don’t have one at the moment. Anything during the day has SPF at least 15 – I am fairskinned/freckled/ginger, and sun doesn’t agree with me!
Viv, I love tinted moisturizers in the summer, they are so lightweight and provide both moisture and a hint of color.
That’s great that you always use products with SPF of at least 15 during the day, I do so too. It’s so important to always protect skin against the sun rays.
uhh…let me go count lol. skincare is my weakness, along with lip products. *runs to count* I have 9 open right now (one of them is a gwp sample size)

Makeup morsels, that’s a lot of open skin creams! Be sure to store them properly away from light and heat or you risk them going bad. Although, sometimes it’s so hard to resist buying a new moisturizer we heard raves about, isn’t it?
I own quite a lot of moisturizers, 10 at least. But I normally use 2 at a time. One for day use (with or without SPF, as I always put on my favorite Kiehl’s sunscreen) and one for night use. Sometime, at night, I would add on a hydrator like Clinique Moisture Surge. If I am using Japanese skincare, I would use 2 mositurisers at night. It’s complicated, I know….LOL

Vonvon, I never thought of using two moisturizers at night. I always assumed that would be too rich, but then I guess it depends from the products used and the skin type as well. And yes, skincare routines can be complicated lol, but if they work well, they’re worth it lol.
I have two, my sunscreen for day and grape seed oil (yes, the plain oil) for night. I’m looking into a night cream with retinol, though. What do you use?

Tammy, at the moment I’m using Venus ACE Plus. Venus it’s a cheap Italian skincare brand and this cream contains Vitamins A, C and E (hence the name) in high quantities so although it comes in a jar which isn’t ideal for antioxidants, I’d thought I’d try anyway. I was curious to see how it compared to more expensive options.
Another great options that might be easier to get in the USA is Reti-C Intensive Corrective Care, which contains both Retinol and Vitamin C and comes in a tube. Or may wanna try something with retinyl palmitate or other retinoids, which are more stable forms of Vitamin A than retinol but still very effective.
haha… I’m addicted to buying moisturizers. Have at least 7 night creams. Not sure how many day moisturizers so possibly 15. But I always just use the ones I feel most comfortable using. If I don’t like it, I’ll pass it on to someone else.

Comunque diciamo che uso fluidi come base e naturalmente integro una quota grassa. Ho dei fluidi alla vitamina c. Poi una crema lenitiva e altre di notte da alternare esfolianti.
Sarebbe un elenco piuttosto dettagliato.

Marguerite, sono un sacco di prodotti! Ci sono dei periodi in cui anche io ne uso molti (sieri, creme, esfolianti ecc) e altri in cui uso solo latte detergente e crema idratante. Comunque con tutti i prodotti che ci sono in circolazione, ognuno con funzioni diverse, utilizzare più prodotti non è una cattiva idea.
Let me count… I currently own 4! 3 of them are really lightweight and the 4th one is a bit more moisturizing for my dry patches
I don’t use a night cream, I’m too oily lol

Stavroula, lol. Oily skin doesn’t need a lot of moisturizer, all that oil is already enough to keep it moisturized by itself. But as a plus, the oil also makes it age better.
