Do you copy celeb makeup looks from mags?

Beautiful with Brains says: I do like to copy those beautiful editorial crazy looks. As for more wearable looks, if I’m stuck in a rut I sometimes look for inspiration in mags and try to recreate some celeb looks, but I’ll do some tweaks here and there to adapt it to my coloring, taste etc.

I do it with really dramatic looks, which actually isn’t that often. Most celeb looks are pretty neutral and wearable.

Trisha, me too. I love it when they are wearing dramatic looks, they’re so fun to recreate. It’s a shame that most of the time they are wearing neutral ones though. They make them look beautiful, but also make them all look the same.

I wish I could (do the makeup or actually pull it off) with those American magazine…but I do like taking tips from Japanese ones though, their make up tip are usually quite easy to follow and the outcome is usually wearable enough for me.

Citrine, I can’t read Japanese mags but from the pix I saw online they seem to be much better than the American/European ones. They seem to offer more tutorials, tips and step by step photos. :)

Sometimes, I copy the looks in magazines. Like you said, most of them are neutrals, unless they are done in Lady Gaga :)

Dao, you’re right. It’s a shame we don’t see more celebs taking risks with their makeup in bags. But sometimes there are some nice looks worth copying. :)

I don’t because I don’t read magazines. :-/ Actually, I’ve been getting a lot of inspiration from music videos I’ve been watching lately. I keep pausing and doing screen caps of the looks and saving them! Lol!

Tammy, good for you for not reading mags. I read only one lol. Music videos are great for inspiration. Some of the looks are so edgy, different and pretty! It’s not always easy to understand what they are wearing exactly though.

It is kinda hard to copy celebs make-up looks from magazines because they have make-up artist to do their make-up, special lighting and fans to make them look pretty.

Janie, I agree. I don’t think you can copy a look exactly, but they are good for inspiration on what colors to wear and where to place them etc. :)

Unfortunately i don’t have such a good make up skills, so i could copy it from the magazines. I usually do my make up with the help of online tutorials, my favorite is by Kandee from http://www.youtube.com/kandeejohnson

every now and again something will inspire me, but rarely….i literally just reach my hand into my makeup drawer and build a look around whatever is the first thing that I pull out half of the time, lol.

Vonnie, that’s what I do too lol. :) But for when I’m stuck in a rut, mags can be a helpful source of inspiration. :)

Nope. I don’t want to imitate the over-hyped celebs by no means. I love the make up styles of the misfits as e.g. Brody Dalle or David Bowie (as Ziggy Sturdust). ;-)

Mylanqolia, I know what you mean. I don’t really like most of these hyped-up celebs but sometimes they wear gorgeous looks eheh.

I love the makeup of David Bowie and the likes, so awesome and creative!

I love looking at them, but I don’t copy them :) I usually copy looks from makeup catalogues from different brands, like the ones I post on my blog :)

I love copying looks of celebs in really high fashion magazines. I like challenging myself to see if I can achieve the same look. Obviously all the photoshop and airbrushing makes it a little difficult but I like to try :) xx

Supermariposa, I agree, all those photoshopping and stuff makes it hard to know what the celeb is wearing where and stuff like that. But at last, we can still get a general idea. I wish they stopped airbrusing the picture so much as it’s not like most celebs need it anyway. :)
