Sunday Survey, Vol.27

1. Do you have any bad habit you need to get rid of?
I seriously need to stop procrastinating everything. I always do things at the very last minute and end up doing a lot of work in a little time. It’s a good thing that I work my best under pressure, but I need to stop so I can relax more and stop worrying that I’ll never finish in time!

2. Do you have any beauty fears?
Colored contact lenses. The idea of putting anything in my eyes just makes me very uncomfortable. I’m also scared of bright red lips, I don’t think I can pull them off.

3. What did you have/plan to have for lunch today?
Lasagne! Yummy!

4. Product reviews: do you prefer them to be in written or video form?
Written, without a shadow of a doubt. When a review is written, I can just scan it and have a good idea of the pros and cons of a product even if I don’t have a lot of time to read it all. Video reviews are also helpful because you can see swatches and how the product is used, but most people just talk for ages about things that have nothing yo do with the item they’re reviewing and you’re like “Go to the point, I don’t have the whole day and can’t be bothered to know what you did this morning or what tv show you saw last night or whatever!” You can’t scan videos so I only watch them if I have time to spare.

5. I know many of you love Gossip Girl so I wonder, am I the only one who hates the show?
I only saw season one (and God knows how I managed to get through it) so I’m not sure if the other seasons are better but the first one was so boring. It was all about spoiled rich brats hurting one another and playing tricks on one another just because they can. First the war between Blair and Serena, then between Blair and Jen. Seriously don’t you have anything better to do with your time? And can’t you all just get along? And it just sends the completely wrong message to girls, I mean, none of the protagonists have values, morals, nothing.. At least the old Beverly Hills 90210, that was about rich people, addressed important issues like rape, alcoholism, drugs, teenage suicide, AIDS. But GG? It’s so shallow! Sorry to anyone that likes it, but it’s just not my cup of tea.

It’s your turn now!

Gio, you and I share the same propensity for slacking! I went through my entire university career doing things until the very last minute — actually, I’m still surprised I finished at all. Right now would have to be my patience… I’m always trying to hold myself back from making impulsive purchases because I’m too impatient to see if I really need it or if it’s cheaper at another place.

Oooh and my beauty fear is a tie between poking my eye out with a needle (don’t ask) or scalding my face EEP!

I had sushi for lunch — YUMMMMMMMM. I wouldn’t mind it if I had to eat only sushi for the rest of my life — well, maybe 1 month maximum lol.

Am torn over video vs typed reviews. I like to see someone’s personality shine through videos, but, god-damn, if it’s ten minutes in length then I just start to fall asleep.
I don’t care much for GG.. I’ve only watched a couple of episodes in full and seriously got annoyed with Chuck’s flaring nostrils and Blair’s mumbled speech.

Love this so much!! I’ll come up with a buncha questions next time and am soooo tagging you ;-)

Mary, I don’t dislike video reviews. Like you said, it’s nice to see someone’s personality shine through and also get an idea of how a products can be used and see that in action. It’s only when they are too long because they go on and on about thinks that have nothing to do with the product that I can’t stand. Some written reviews are like that but they’re easier to scan and find the info you’re looking for. Every time I tried to fast forward a video I always missed important info. Typical!

I can’t wait for your “Sunday Survey” and of course I’ll do the tag. ;) Love this type of posts as well. :)

Mary I loved 90201, such a great show!

I haven’t seen Big Bang Theory yet but will have to soon, everyone’s been recommending it to me! :)

    1. Do you have any bad habit you need to get rid of?
    I procrastinate too!

    2. Do you have any beauty fears?
Color contact lenses and those creepy circle lenses. Both just scare the living bejeezus outta me. Whenever I see YouTube gurus wearing them, I automatically skip it. I don’t know how people think they are attractive.

    3. What did you have/plan to have for lunch today?
I had tacos. They were kind of meh.

    4. Product reviews: do you prefer them to be in written or video form?
Written! I almost always skip video reviews. I also hate hauls; they’re boooring.

    5. I know many of you love Gossip Girl so I wonder, am I the only one who hates the show?
I’ve never seen the show, and based on your description of it, I don’t have the desire to see it.

Tammy, I think some color contact lenses look natural but most of them are just so fake and creepy! They kinda scare me lol.

    5. I know many of you love Gossip Girl so I wonder, am I the only one who hates the show?I like it. You are right, Gio in some way, but it’s much worse in the “real world” than in this show and you are very lucky if you don’t know about such things in “real life”.
I personally started watching the show to see the outfits and makeup. I only like Chuck and Blair in the show and don’t really care about anything else ;)

Marina, you are right that, at the end of the day, the show represents what is happening in the real world, and that sadly in reality much worse things happen. And that is what really scares me. However, I still think that a show, particualrly one that is targeted to teenagers who are at such a delicate stage in their lives, should represent reality but also set a good example. I mean, the show is full of villains, where are the decent guys and gals? There are both good and bad people in the world, those that would do anything to be popular and others that just realise how stupid being popular is. Yet it seems to be that in this show, not only are the bad guys the only ones represented, but also idealized, which is a very dangerous message to send to teens. But then, I do tend to prefer shows where the good guys always win even though I know that’s not what happens in real life.

But the clothes and makeup in the shows are fab! And I love Leighton Meester, she’s beautiful!

  5. Gretchen says

    1.) Umm, procrastination definitely!
2.) Red lips and false eyelashes, I really want to try them, but they frighten me…
3.) Lunch, went out for my birthday!
    4.) Written
5.) My old roommate watched that show, I just never got interested in it. Big Bang Theory on the other hand well that’s in a class of it’s own.

    • beautifulwithbrains says

      Gretchen, happy birthday!

I really need to start watching Big Bang Theory then. Everybody keeps raving about how good it is and I’m getting curious about it. :)

I don’t watch it, I never have lol, so I can’t say if I hate it or not!
