What I liked:
- matte finish
- keeps my combination skin shine free for the entire day
- powder is transparent and sinks in without making you look sick (unless you apply too much)
- makes skin look flawless
- didn’t make me breakout nor did it dry my skin
- the price
What I didn’t like:
- if you apply too much, the white powder may make you look ghastly
- sample jar is not very practical
One of the things that I like the most about Indie and Mineral Makeup Companies is that they often allow you to purchase samples of their producst so you can try them and see how well they work for you before purchasing the full size. The only downside? Sometimes the product is so good that you kick yourself in the butt for not purchasing the full size straight away!
That’s how I felt like when I received my sample of Fyrinnae Finishing Powder Oil Control, especially since the small jar that contains the powder is not very practical and can be quite messy if you’re not careful. The full size jar, instead, is bigger (obviously) and comes with a sifter, so the messy factor would be reduced to a minimum and make it much easier to pick up the product with a kabuki or any other big fluffy brush.
But let’s talk about the powder itself. It is white in color, but you don’t have to worry about looking like a ghost as it sinks into the skin easily and becomes transparent, giving a matte and flawless finish to your complexion. I think you run the risk of looking ghastly only if you exaggerate and apply too much. But you won’t need to as a little goes a long way with this.
The main reason why I got this powder was for its supposed oil-absorbing properties. I’m not sure how well it’ll work on very oily skin, but for my combination skin with a moderately oily t-zone, this powder is HG material! I would put it on in the morning and it controls oil so well (thanks to the kaolin in it) that at the end of the day my skin is still shine-free! That had never happened to me before!
All the other finishing powders I used worked only for a few hours and then I’d have to use blotting sheets to wipe away those ugly shine patches but not with this. It keeps my skin oil-free without accentuating pores or fines lines and it doesn’t dry my skin either! I like this powder so much that I’m trying to make it last as long as possible although I’ll soon be buying the full size as I just can’t live without it.
Plus, like all other Fyrinnae products, the Finishing Powder Oil control is very cheap. You get 12gr of powder for only $5.50 and shipping on orders above $20 is free worldwide! I highly recommend this powder to all those with combination skin like me. As for those with very oily skin, you can always try the sample size, which is only $1.50 and is filled to the brim.

Summary
I have combination skin with an oily, but not overly so, t-zone and Fyrinnae Finishing Powder Oil Control is the only think that keeps it shine-free for the entire day. This transparent powder evens out the skin, making it appear flawless and matte without being drying. And it’s very cheap too!

Tammy, that’s the best thing I tried that helped with my oily t-zone. I’m not sure if it will keep the shine away for the entire day on super oily skin, but it will definitely help.

Makeup morsels, when it comes to face products, I prefer them to be in pressed form as well. But since this powder works better than anything else I’ve ever used, I don’t really mind.
I’m really tempted to try this, as I have oily skin!! I might get it along with Pixie Epoxy (it’s from the same company, right?)
