Name: Natural Lip Balm
Brand: Prairie Dawn
Size: 4g
Price: $4.00

From Prairie Dawn’s website:
A special blend of natural ingredients to both nourish and protect. Some sink in and moisturize, some coat and protect and some draw moisture to the surface. It is available in 4 luscious flavours, Sweet Orange, Lime, Peppermint and Black Licorice.

What I liked:
- moisturizes lips for a few hours
- leave lips soft and smooth
- smooth texture, glides on easily
- natural ingredients
- lovely scents and flavours
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- need to be reapplied a few times during the day
- some people may not like that the peppermint flavour, unlike the others, gives lips a tingling feeling

As regular readers of my blog know, I am addicted to lip balms and always have a dozen lying around in the house. So when the lovely people at Prairie Dawn asked me if I wanted to try their lip balms, I just couldn’t refuse. Prairie Dawn lip balms are available in 4 flavours: Sweet Orange, Lime, Peppermint and Black Licorice. And they are all delicious!

And most of you will be happy to know that these lip balms are made only with good quality, natural ingredients. Here’s the ingredient list, for those interested:

Organic jojoba oil, castor oil, Alberta beeswax, wheat germ oil, vegetable glycerin, coconut oil, avocado oil, stevia extract, natural Vitamin E and essential oil (you can choose among peppermint, tangerine, anise and lime).

All four flavours have the same ingredients (apart from the Peppermint one which doesn’t contain the stevia extract) and the only thing that changes is the essential oil. And it’s just thanks to the essential oils that all these lip balms have a wonderful and natural scent. Tangerine, for instance, smells like tangerine, not like some artificial and unrealistic scent made in a lab. It is also my favourite one of the bunch as I just love citrus scents.

But of course a lip balm to be good doesn’t only have to smell and taste lovely, but be moisturizing as well. And how does this perform? Very well, actually. They all have a silky smooth texture that applies like a dream, leaving lips soft and moisturized for hours. The Peppermint one, unlike the other 3, also provides a tingling sensation on your lips. Personally speaking I’m not a fan of it, but only because I don’t like products that make lips tingle, but overall, it is quite pleasant if you don’t mind it.

However, I don’t have chapped lips so I’m not sure how well and fast it will heal them, but overall, I really enjoyed these lip balms. If I have to find something I don’t like, I’d say that they aren’t the most longlasting lip balms I’ve tried. Yes, the moisturizing effects lasts a few hours, but reapplication every now and then is still necessary. Still, that can be said about most lip balms so it doesn’t bother me much.

Available at: Prairiedawn.ca

Summary
Prairie Dawn Natural Lip Balms are made with fine natural ingredients, are moisturizing and their scent and taste are delicious. Their smooth texture glides on easily, leaving lips soft and hydrated. However, you will need to reapply them every now and then.

Rating: 4/5
