What was your biggest beauty mistake in high school?

Beautiful with Brains says: I used to apply black eyeliner on my waterline which made my small eyes appear even smaller. It wasn’t a good look but at the time I thought it was cool. Oh, and using drugstore foundations that were about two shades darker than my pale skin and made me look orange. Unfortunately drugstore brands just don’t made shades light enough for pale-skinned girls like me and I couldn’t afford buying high-end ones back then. Of course I could only get away with them in the winter when wearing high-neck sweaters! I wouldn’t wear them in the summer or I would have looked even more ridiculous!

Nikki, I’m glad you didn’t make any big mistakes, clever you. But I don’t know how you could resist without wearing lip balm, I’ve always been addicted to it lol.

I don’t really wear makeup in high school, but i guess my biggest beauty mistake then was not wearing sunscreen / avoiding the sun everyday. Now i have freckles on my cheekbones! T_T

Jenn, I totally forgot about that but unfortunately it’s a mistake I did too. I guess I was kinda lucky cos I always avoided the sun whenever possible but I’m sure some damage will appear in a few years. That’s too bad that it gave you freckles.

Not wearing waterproof mascara on days I had P.E. LOL Also, not wearing sunscreen – especially when I played a sport! Just think of the damage. ><

Dee, it’s a shame people weren’t more aware of how much sunscreen was important back then. When I went to high school I thought it was something that only those that went to the beach needed. If only someone told us before we wouldn’t prevented a lot of damage.

Xin, bright red lips are so hard to pull off. I was terrified of them in high school lol.

I just remember there were hardly any drugstore makeup choices back when I was in high school (so sad!) So I would wear brown or gray eyeshadow every day, because those are the only colors available at the store. The colors just looked bad on me, but there were no other options! And since other people mentioned sunscreen – I never wore sunscreen and I grew up in Hawaii! I didn’t start wearing it til age 27:(((((((

Jeni, you’re right, back then drugstore cosmetics didn’t offer much choice and mosr products weren’t all that good. But they have come a long way and really upped their game recently. And I don’t think many people were aware of the dangers on not wearing sunscreens, which is a shame. :(

Not plucking my eyebrows, foundation that was way too fair & not wearing sunblock! I joined the marching team and my skin was badly sunburnt and I became sooo dark >_< I have since realised that the sun does not like me so I stay away from it =/

Isabel, sunburns are awful! Too bad we weren’t more sunscreen savvy back then. *sighs*

oh dear… I’ve been a victim of horrible makeup in my highschool days! the thick black liner, unblended eyeshadow… I cringe thinking of it
