Name: Ceramic Effect Nail Polishes in n.10, n.13 and n.15
Brand: Layla
Size: 10ml
Price: €7,60

From Layla’s website:
Thanks to the special thickness that “Ceramic Effect” from Layla leaves on your nails, you’ll have shiny and very smooth nails. “Ceramic Effect” doesn’t need a base coat before application. Dries rapidly.

What I liked:
- good color payoff with shiny finish
- dry rapidly
- formula is very easy to work with, no streaks
- Big 3 free
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- the black shade chips quickly
- some base coats may make them apply streaky but I didn’t have this problem at all

As promised, here’s the second part of the review of the Layla Ceramic Effect nail polishes (for the first part, click here). The shades I’m gonna show you today are all dark and intense so, even though Layla says you can use them without a base coat (remember that some base coats work better than others with these polishes), I preferred to apply one anyway.

N.10 is a gorgeous dark, forest green with a shiny finish. Not too light but not too dark either I find this shade is very wearable and perfect for the upcoming season. The color payoff’s good and you only need to apply two coats for a smooth and opaque finish.

N.13 is a beautiful, deep, dark blue. The most pigmented of the 3, this requires only one coat for an opaque, very shiny finish. This is one of my fave colors I’ve tried from Layla as this true blue is so intense and easy to work with. And just in case you’re wondering, it’s the light that makes each nail look a bit different. I’m sorry I don’t have a better photo to show you.

N.15 is a black shade with some subtle dark purple undertones. I think the color’s very sexy, vampy but classy. This needed two coats and it has a slightly shiny finish too. Unfortunately, while all the other Layla nail polishes I tried started chipping after 4 days without a protective top coat, this chipped, and pretty badly too, on the second day. It’s a shame cos the color’s beautiful. If you wanna try it, a good top coat is a must with this.

Like the other Ceramic Effect polishes, these too have a formula that’s easy to work with: a bit thick but still fluidy and creamy, it spreads evenly without streaking. And because it is auto-leveling, if you make any mistakes, they smooth themselves down on their own, leaving your nails smooth and shiny. And they all dry in just a few minutes too! :)

Available at: Layla counters

Summary
Overall, Layla Ceramic Effect Nail Polishes have great color payoff that only requires one or two coats for an opaque and shiny finish, apply smoothly without streaking (at least with most base coats), are Big 3 free and inexpensive. They all last 4 days without a top coat, apart from the black one. That one chips pretty soon (on the second day).

Rating: 4/5

Wow, those are some really beautiful colors! Dark nail polishes tend to chip very easily. I always use 2 coats of top coat polish whenever I paint my nails. That way, I can go chip-free for 2 weeks. And I do type a lot, too.

Dao, they are very pretty aren’t they? 2 weeks? wow! I think I need to start applying two coats of top coat then. I usually apply only one but not when I’m testing nail polishes for review as I wanna report how fast they chip without it. But I think these (with the exception of the black) would easily last up to a week with a good top coat. :)

You’re reviewing a lot of nail polish lately!

I think I like No. 10 the best of these three shades. The green is super nice. Although the black is good too.

Trisha, I am, aren’t I? I’m in a nail polished obsessed phase at the moment. I used to bite my nails until not too long ago and it left them in a really bad and ugly state which prevented me from wearing nail polishes. But now that I got over that horrible habit and my nails are in a better condition, I’m making up for lost time. :)

I love that green too, it’s beautiful. :)

Now these are my kind of colors! You know I love green, but that blue looks stunning. I’m glad you got over your nail biting ’cause these polish swatches are gawjus!

Tammy, I’m glad I don’t bite my nails anymore so that I can wear such beautiful polishes. I love darker shades too when it comes to nail varnishes and that blue in particular is so stunning. ;)

Makeup Morsels, I think that’s a beautiful colors too and a great one to wear during the transition from summer to fall. I’m kinda sad summer’s ending though.

Hi sweetheart! I’m ill and have to stay in bed so I finally find the time to read your posts. I really love the green shade though I know that I wouldn’t wear such a colour on my nails. I prefer nude shades. By the way, has your friend found some nice P2 nail varnsh fror you or is he still in Germany? :-*

Mylanqolia, oh I’m sorry to hear you’re ill. I hope you get better very soon! My bf didn’t get me any P2 polishes, but he bought me one (and other stuff) from Esprit. He also bought me a bunch of other stuff from P2, Manhattan and Essence so I now have lots of new German goodies to play with. And I have to say, for someone that doesn’t know anything about makeup, he’s chosen well. :)
