The much raved about UD Naked Palette wasn’t your thing? Do you prefer darker, smokey shades? Then you’re in luck cos Urban Decay has just released the Black Palette ($36.00) and it’s gorgeous! It features a travel-sized Zero 24/7 Liner, a mini size of Eden Primer Potion and six black-based eyeshadows:

Black Dog: matte black
Barracuda: Black with silver sparkle
Jet: shimmering dark purple
Sabbath: shimmering dark blue
Cobra: black with golden sparkle
Libertine: black with emerald sparkle

This is the perfect palette to set free the inner rocker in you or for a night out on the town. To get the best out of this palette thought, you need Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Charlotte of Lipglossiping has swatched the shades over that primer and wow, they look even more stunning!

What do you think of the Black Palette?

Welcome back, Vonvon! When I first saw the swatches, I thought the colors were too dark for me too, but over the Pixie Epoxy, wow! But yeah, you have to like dark shades to appreciate this palette.

This is so pretty, but I might pass on it ’cause I’m not sure I’d use it much. The colors look too dark. Still, it’s so pretty. I want!

Tammy, it’s a beautiful palette. I’m not sure it’s worth getting if one won’t use it much but still it looks tempting!

It looks beautiful, but I’ve heard/seen on other blogs that the shades aren’t anything special, they basically look dark!

Stavroula, that’s what I saw/heard too until I stumbled on the colors swatched over the Pixie Epoxy and they look so much prettier! They look more true to themselves and less dark. I think if one has the Pixie Epoxy this one is a great palette to have, otherwise, it looks a bit boring.

Yeah I saw that too! But isn’t it sad that you have to use something under these eyeshadows to make them look nice? I mean it’s Urban Decay, it’s expensive!! You shouldn’t have to use something to make them look nice!

I agree with you there. The idea of a dark palette is great but from such an expensive brand I would expect the colors to look better and different from one another. I already have the Pixie Epoxy so I’m really tempted to purchasing this palette, but otherwise, I’d probably pass. I mean, you already pay quite a lot for the palette, and then you have to pay more for a primer to get the best results of it. It is sad I agree. But having said that, anyone should own the Pixie Epoxy, it’s just the best product ever invented. ;)

Do get it! It improves the color payoff of eyeshadows so much and if you have some that just don’t show up, this will save it. Here’s my review on it: http://beautifulwithbrains.com/2010/06/14/product-review-fyrinnae-pixie-epoxy/
