Name: Loose Eyeshadow in Nevermore
Brand: Fyrinnae
Size: 3gr full size or 1/3 teaspoon sample size
Price: $5.90 full size/$2.00 sample size

From Fyrinnae’s website:
A nearly-matte vibrant purple, fairly neutral, but leaning to pink. This shade has a slight satin finish. Not lip-safe.

What I liked:
– nice color payoff
– easy to blend
– almost matte finish
– long-lasting
– the packaging
– the price

What I didn’t like:
– you don’t get the best results with this shade if you sweep it on but it needs to be patted on instead
– being a pigment, some fallout can occur
– available only online

It is really hard to find some almost matte shades with a great formula and texture, but vegan brand Fyrinnae has managed to deliver just that. If I had known how good they are, I would have ordered more. Instead, I didn’t even order Nevermore! I just bought some Arcane eyeshadows samples (review coming soon) and their fab Pixie Epoxy and so I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered they had added a sample of Nevermore to my order. Aren’t these guys great?

Nevermore is a deep dark but bright purple with an almost matte finish and just the right amount of satin. It has a smooth and velvety texture that is very easy to apply and blend. When applied dry on bare lid, it goes on quite sheer, providing just a long-lasting wash of color. You need to use a primer with this to improve the color payoff, but then you would need to use one anyway to minimize fallout. After all, this is a loose eyeshadows, and all loose eyeshadows can be messy if they don’t have something to adhere to.

Also, application can be a bit tricky at first, especially if you’re used to sweep the colors on. All Fyrinnae eyeshadows work much better when they are patted on and if you remember that, you won’t have any problems with this at all. You could also use it with the Pixie Epoxy as it doesn’t get chunky or hard to apply when patted on top of it, but be warned that it becomes a much darker shade of purple when used this way.

One thing I really love about Fyrinnae is the way the package their samples. Instead of those annoying plastic bags that are tricky to use and most often than not you end up with powder everywhere when you try to open and use them, Fyrinnae samples come in cute little circular jars without sifters that are functional and not messy. I really hope they never change this!

Available at: Fyrinnae.com

Summary
Overall, I really like Fyrinnae Loose Eyeshadow in Nevermore. It has a nearly-matte satin finish with a smooth and velvety texture that is easy to blend and lasts long. It needs to be patted on and it’s best used with a base to improve the sheer color payoff and minimize fallout. Also, sample sizes come packaged in small jars instead than those awful plastic bags.

Rating: 4/5

Disclaimer: I made an order on Fyrinnae’s website a while ago and they added a free sample of this eyeshadow to my order. The review is based on my own personal and honest experience with the product. For more information, please see my disclaimer.

Hmm. That didn’t go on as well as I expected. I got a sample size of a color, I dont remember which but it was a light yellow/beige sparkly thing and it was awesome.

Trisha, unfortunately the swatch doesn’t do the shade justice at all, but all the other pictures I took were even worse.. I think this is one of the least pigmented eyeshadows Fyrinnae makes, at least based on my limited experience with them, but it needs a primer (which I didn’t use in the swatch) to work its best and improve the color payoff. The Arcane eyeshadows I got instead are much better. Very complex colors and so pigmented!

Pinch, it is a very pretty color indeed. It’s a shame the swatch didn’t turn out better.
