Name: Round Eyeshadow Brush
Brand: Gosh
Price: £7.00

From Gosh’s website:
Broad, short hair brush that has a round tip. Perfect for the application of eyeshadow, under the eye as well as on the eyelid. 100% natural hair.

What I liked:
– pointed tip picks up a lot of color
– soft but dense bristles
– can be used to place color on the lower lashline and the crease
– works well in small areas and at creating shapes
– doesn’t shed
– the price

What I didn’t like:
– some people may not like that the bristles are natural.

I picked up Gosh Round Eyeshadow brush the last time I was in London because I wanted to see how it compared to the MAC 219 Pencil brush. Could the Gosh brush be a cheap and effective dupe for it? Actually, yes. I wouldn’t say the quality is just as good as MAC, but it is very, very close.

The Gosh Round Eyeshadow Brush looks very sleek and professional. It has a black handle and the bristles, which are natural, are tapered, with a pointed tip. They are dense enough to be effective but still very soft (although MAC’s are slightly softer) so they don’t scratch skin. And despite regular washing for more than 3 months now, they have never shed a hair.

Because the bristles are so dense and pointed they pick up a lot of color so be careful or it’ll be too much. Its shape makes it perfect to apply eyeshadow on the lower lashline quickly and efficiently and it also works very well for placing and blending colors into the crease. In addition, you can also use it to create all the shapes and sizes you want and, because the point is slighter smaller than MAC 219′s, this is better for working in really small areas.

If like me you have small eyes, you might find the Gosh Round Eyeshadow Brush to be slightly more precise and a better choice than the MAC 219 brush. Gosh says you can use the brush to apply color on the lid as well, and you can, but because the point is small, that’d take longer than if you used a flat eyeshadow brush. But overall, it is a fantastic brush and if it is available where you live, you should definitely consider trying it.

Available at: Superdrug stores in the UK and Shoppers Dug Marts in the USA.

Summary
Overall, Gosh Round Eyeshadow Brush is a very versatile brush that can be used to place and blend eyeshadow anywhere on your eyes. The dense but soft bristles have a pointed tip that pick up a lot of color, don’t shed and don’t scratch the skin. If you’re looking for a cheap but effective alternative to the MAC 219 pencil brush, you should definitely consider this.

Celeste, I have their eyeshadow brush too and I love that as well. Overall, I find the quality’s really good and I plan to get more when I go to London next (not sure when that’ll be though). If you can, you should try this. :)

Okay, who doesn’t like natural fiber brushes? Crazy people, that’s who. Synthetic makeup brushes are terrible.

Trisha, I prefer natural bristles too. I have a few synthetic brushes that are really good and soft, but generally I find natural bristles better. I guess some people don’t like them because they feel sorry for the poor animals. :(

Dee, that’s a shame! Gosh isn’t available here either. I have to go all the way to the UK or rely on blog sales to get their stuff. I so wish they were more easily available everywhere too.

Mylanqolia, it’s too bad this brand is so hard to find in a lot of countries. I really love their brushes and can’t wait to try more but they’re not available in Italy either. :(
