Name: Eyeshadow Quad in Light Blue Set
Brand: Fior Di Magnolia
Size: 7,5g
Price: €4,99

From Eurospin’s website:
Soft and silky eyeshadows that easily glide on your lids to give you intensity and sparkle all day.

What I liked:
– nicely pigmented
– very shimmery
– easy to blend
– texture not powdery
– the price

What I didn’t like:
– may be too shimmery for some
– need a primer to last all day
– the packaging

Fior di Magnolia is a brand made by and available at Eurospin supermarkets throughout Italy and Slovenia. They don’t have a wide range of products and use way too much packaging (more on that later) but the prices are very cheap and I’m always up for trying something new, especially when I get it for free lol.

My boyfriend’s mum gave me their eyeshadow quad in Light Blue Set which contains four very shimmery shades with a pearly finish: pale baby blue, pale silvery grey, medium bright blue and medium grey. I have to say I was very surprised to discover that all the shades have good color payoff and I don’t need to layer and layer and layer again like it usually happens with cheap eyeshadows made by supermarket chains.

However, to fully appreciate these eyeshadows you have to be a fan of shimmer. Those that like a subtle sparkle or matte shades will be put off by them but personally I think the shimmer is just right. After all, they promise to make your eyes sparkle and do fulfill that promise. I guess it’s also due to the shimmers the fact that the texture isn’t very soft to the touch, but not too hard nor powdery either.

Some fallout can occur, but that happens with most eyeshadows so it doesn’t bother me. They’re easy to blend and, with a good eyeshadow base underneath, they will last all day without creasing nor fading. Overall, I think that considering the cheap price, the quality of this eyeshadow quad is quite good but I have to take points away for the packaging.

Remember the post I wrote a while ago about excessive packaging and how a Fior Di Magnolia lipstick was packaged in a box way too big for it? Well, it turns out all the products by this brand are packaged like that and this quad is no exception. Unfortunately I don’t have pictures to show you since I was given this quad by my boyfriend’s mum and she had already thrown it away but I saw the product at the supermarket and believe me when I say the box it comes in is big enough to contain at least five quads!

That’s a huge waste in my opinion and I don’t really feel like supporting a brand that obviously has no care for the environment. It’s really a shame cos I would love to get more. But if you don’t mind the unnecessary packaging, I think these quads are perfect for makeup beginners who want some quality products without breaking the bank.

Summary
Overall, I like Fior Di Magnolia Eyeshadow Quad in Light Blue Set. The colors are pigmented, very shimmery and easy to blend. And you can’t beat the price! However, the shadows need a primer to last all day and the quad is packaged in a box that is way too big whose only purpose is to produce lots of unnecessary waste.

Rating: 3.5/5

Oh my, I hate products with excessive packaging. I think eyeshadows with shimmer do blend a lot better than matte or satin. I’m glad you like this quad and the pigmentation is so good.

Dao, I hate when products have too much packaging too. The quality of this quad is really good, especially considered the price, so it’s a shame they had to use so much packaging. It’s such a waste and has put me off getting more of their products. :(

I envy you for writing so much reviews! You’re very efficient, dear! Thanks again for them anyway. I read them all, but I just comment here as it’s the most interesting to me. Yeah, I’m a cheapo lova by heart. :-) But, hey, the colour payoff of the quad (What does Fior de Magnolia mean? Actually, it sounds like a perfume, to be honest.) is really good for a supermarket brand! The brown and the blue shade is beautiful! But I just don’t understand why they add extra packaging. It’s ok if they seal the transparent box due to hygienic criteria. Perhaps one has to write an email to the producers if possible…

Mylanqolia, thanks. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying my reviews. It makes it all worthwile to know you guys appreciate them. *hugs* Fior Di Magnolia means “Magnolia Flower” and I think it’s a nice name and now that you mention it, it sounds more like that of a perfume, you’re right. I didn’t expect the quality to be that good considering it is a supermarket brand but I was pleasantly surprised instead. I don’t get why they use so much packaging either. Sure they don’t need this much to make sure nothing breaks while being delivered to the shop or to prevent people from testing them in the supermarket. Totally unneccessary and we should definitely complain..

Your welcome, dear! And thanks a lot for the translation. Honestly, it sounds more appealing and mystical in Italian. In English it sounds so boring. :-( Anyways, what kind of products do they also have? I’m very curious now. *as always*

Mylanqolia, you’re welcome. To be honest, their line is pretty limited. A few shades of lipsticks, some eyeshadow quads, foundation, blushes and face powder. Only basic stuff. The shade selection is very limited and most of the colors are very wearable and safe. The quality of the products is good though, especially if you consider it is a supermarket brand. I only wish they didn’t use so much packaging. *sighs*
