Name: One
Brand: Calvin Klein
Size: 50ml
Price: €33,50

What I liked:
– lovely fresh fruity smell
– not overpowering
– suits both men and women
– the packaging
– the price

What I didn’t like:
– doesn’t last all day
– if you don’t like fresh or fruity scents this is not for you
– some women may find the packaging too simple for their tastes

Calvin Klein One fragrance has been on the market for years but I’ve been introduced to it only recently by my boyfriend who gave me a bottle for my birthday. Buying a fragrance for someone else isn’t easy and I usually lean towards woody/oriental scents but despite this he made an excellent choice cos I love this perfume. And the picture above is proof of that as, as you can see, I’ve almost used it all up.

One is an unisex fragrance and it is very simple. It’s not one of those complex blends that feature lots of different notes. It smells clean, fresh with some fruity notes in it too. When I first spray it on I smell a lovely blend of citrus fruits like lemon and Mandarin with a hint of Bergamot, followed by Green Tea and Jasmine. The fragrance closes with Sandalwood, Musk and Cedar, which are among my fave notes (together with citrus fruits) and the reason why I adore this scent.

The fragrance is crisp but light, suitable for both day and night time. Those very near you will be able to smell it but it’s not overpowering that will give them a headache. As for the staying power, Calvin Klein states on their website that this fragrance lasts about 6 or 7 hours and I agree with them. I guess this is because the fragrance is light and fresh but prepare to reapply at least once if you’re spending all the day outside.

Overall, I think this  scent is rather unique and Calvin Klein did a good job at creating a scent that will suit both men and women. It isn’t too sweet which may put men off but it’s not too strong or masculine that won’t appeal to women either. They managed to find the right balance that will work on everyone, which wasn’t an easy task so kudos to them.

Just like the fragrance, the bottle is also very simple. I guess this is because Calvin Klein wanted to appeal to both women and men, who prefer plain and not too elaborate bottles. Still, I think it looks modern and pretty and doesn’t look bad on my vanity table. I also like that it’s see-through so I can see how much product is left in it.

Summary
Overall, I love Calvin Klein One Fragrance. It is a gorgeous and fresh blend of citrusy and woody notes that is suitable for both men and women. It can be worn for any occasion as it isn’t too strong or overpowering, but it doesn’t last all day. Also, some may find the bottle too plain.

Rating: 4/5

This is my fave perfume! But yes, sadly it doesn’t last.

Diyana, I’m glad you love it too! I agree, it’s a shame it doesn’t last all day. That’s why I wear it mostly when I’m out the house only for a few hours but it’d be nice if it lasted longer. Still, a wonderful and unique scent, though.

I remember nicking this from my dad’s. It was the scent of the 90s. Most of my male cousins wore this (and they probably still do!) For some reasons, CK One and most CK perfumes smell really dirty on me. They smell like I need to have a shower after having a shower.

Ck One is really light and a lot of people overspray it, which adds more to the ick factor. Just imagine a room full of sweaty men wearing Ck One. That’s pretty much my teenage memory.

Dao, oh dear! I can’t see why you don’t like it. It’s a shame it doesn’t work on you but then everyone reacts to fragrances differently. I don’t really know anyone else who wears this (actually most of the people I know don’t wear perfume at all, only on special occasions. I’m not the only beauty junkie around here ;) ) so I’ve never smelt how it performs when oversprayed but I guess not too good. Overspraying usually ruins a fragrance, hence why I keep it light. :)
