Name: Color Trend Kiss ‘N’ Go Lipstick in Amethyst
Brand: Avon
Price: £3.25

From Avon’s website:
Fantastic stay – true colour. Rich, creamy and moisturising.

What I liked:
– pigmented
– Amethyst applies smoothly
– average staying power for a lip product
– the price

What I didn’t like:
– texture is very drying
– some shades can be hard to apply
– doesn’t last too long
– heavy scent
– cheap packaging

I’ve recently received two Avon Color Trend Kiss ‘N’ Go Lipsticks in a swap but I’m only going to talk about one of them, Amethyst, today. That’s because Cinnamon, the other shade I got, wasn’t available on the Avon websites. Yes, I said websites because I couldn’t find this lipstick on the USA website, while a few shades are on offer on the UK and Malta ones (the Malta one states while stocks last), so I’m not sure what’s going on with this lipstick, if it’s being discounted or only available in some parts of the world.

But if after reading my review, you’re interested in it, I suggest you take advantage of the discount and pick it up straight away. So let’s start talking about the shade. Amethyst is a medium purple shade with some pink undertones and an almost matte finish. The color is very pigmented, rich and intense but still wearable for daytime if you keep the rest of you makeup natural.

(Please excuse the bad application. I applied it quickly just so you could see the shade).

While I was very pleased with the good color payoff, the texture was a disappointment. It’s said to be moisturizing, but it isn’t at all. On the contrary, this stuff feels very drying on the lips. So, I just applied some lip balm underneath like I do when I wear drying lipsticks and it usually solves the problem, but not this time. Even with lip balm, the lipstick still felt drying on my lips. :(

Also, while Amethyst applies well without problems, Cinnamon (which isn’t very pigmented either), is a completely different story. I find application to be difficult and patchy. Not the look you want to go for. And while I know I said I wasn’t going to review Cinnamon, I still thought it was important to let you know that not all the shades have the same pigmentation and texture, in case you are tempted to try something other than Amethyst.

The staying power is that of any average lipsticks. It lasts a couple of hours before it almost completely fades, less if you eat or drink. I can’t really complain too much about it considered the cheap price, but you have to be prepared to reapply it often if you buy it. Also, the lippie has a very strong scent although you can’t smell it once it is on your lips. I’m not too keen on the packaging either as it looks very cheap.

Summary
Overall, I don’t think Avon Color Trend Kiss ‘n’ Go Lipstick in Amethyst is a bad lipstick. You just get what you pay for, really. Amethyst is very pigmented and glides on easily (although some shades have a sheer color payoff and apply horribly) but feels very drying on the lips even if you use a lip balm! The staying power is average too.

Rating: 3/5

Anastacia, I used to be obsessed with lip products until about one year ago so that’s why I have so many stuff. I’m into eyeshadows and eyeliners now but still buy more lip products that I can finish. This one is a very pretty shade, isn’t it?
