Do you remember the readers’ feedback survey I posted a few weeks ago? (Thanks to all who took the time to fill it in and if you haven’t already, please do, I’d really appreciate it!). Well, quite a few of you said they weren’t too interested about collections from famous brands as most blogs cover them already, but others loved this type of posts. So, I thought I could make a single post about collections from less-known brands and others where I talk about several collections from well-known ones at a time highlighting only the products I think are more interesting. Please let me know if you like this idea in the comments.
Let’s get started!
YSL Solaris Summer 2010 Collection
YSL is one of the very few high-end brands (I’m a drugstore girl at heart, you know?) that always makes me drooling and the new Solaris collection for summer is no exception. Even though I don’t use cream eyeshadows a lot, the new shades of Fard Lumiere Aquaresistant, Golden Sands and Riviera Blue ($30.00 each), look very bold and summery and for days when I can’t be bothered to apply makeup, I can just imagine sweeping these on my lids and be good to go.
For the lips, I’m lemming the Rouge Pure Shine ($30.00) in Pink Lychee, it’s such a girlie pink. The sheer lipstick is also available in Blood Orange. And isn’t the packaging of the Touche Brilliance ($30.00) lipglosses too cute? You can get these in Coral Sunset and Fuchsia Sunrise. Can you guess what my fave is? Yep, the Fuchsia.
And let’s not forget the beautiful bright nail polishes. This summer La Laque ($20.00) will be available in two fun LE shades: Ultra Orange and Ultra Violet. But the star of the collection must be the new Terre Saharienne ($50.00), a bronzing powder which gives skin a sheer, sunkissed glow. The silky and long-lasting formula is available in N° 1 Sand, N° 2 Copper Sand and N° 3 Golden Sand.

Laura Mercier Sun Drenched Summer 2010

Laura Mercier Sun Drenched is your typical summer collection with several products to either fake or enhance a glowy tan, neutral shades for the eyes with some pops of tropical colors on lips and eyes. Let’s start with these. The Luster Eye Colors ($22.00) are available in Sandbar (ivory with gold pearl), Sundown (warm brown with bronze pearl) and my favourite, Marina (a beautiful shimmery blue).
For the Lips, we have two new Lip Glace ($22.00) shades: Heat Wave, a stunning bright coral rose with gold pearl, and Glistening Sand, a soft beige with gold shimmer for those that want a subtle look. And in any summer collection, a bronzing pressed powder can’t possibly miss. Available in Dune Bronze, Golden Bronze, Matte Bronze and Sun Bronze, it gives skin a beautiful sunny glow. And the pattern is very pretty too.
Also available are a Bronzing Gel ($32.00), a lightweight gel bronzer that enhances a tan and adds a warm glow and Body Bronzing Makeup ($38.00), a smooth formula with light reflective particle that help hide imperfections while adding a radiant but subtle glow to the skin.
Stila Summer 2010 collection
This summer, Stila is releasing a small collection but all the products look really promising and I want pretty much everything. If only Stila was available in this little part of the world! But if Stila is available where you live, here’s what you can get.
The Pro Artist Palette No. 1 ($28.00) contains six of the most popular eyeshadow shades from Stila: Prize (soft gold shimmer), Sparkle (golden bronze shimmer), Kitten (shimmering nude pink), Grand (taupe shimmer), Lucky (deep teal shimmer), Moxie (vibrant purple sheen). I love the mix of bold and natural shades and for those that wanted to try Stila eyeshadows but never did, this is a great opportunity at a cheap price. And isn’t the packaging to die for?
Also interesting is the new revolutionary One Step PrimeColor ($22.00) is a long-wearing and buildable all over color that combines primer, eye shadow, highlighter, lip color, cheek color and bronzer! It is available in 6 shades: Bronze Babe (soft golden bronze), Capri Coral (pinkish coral), Kitten (nude pink shimmer), Per Suede (dusty rose), Pop Of Pink (petal pink) and Rosie Posie (vibrant pink).
Last but by no means least is the new Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner ($20.00). Although I’m not digging the price, the colors are beautiful and the eyeliner is said to be soft, pigmented and waterproof! You can get this in Blue Ribbon (slate blue sheen), Koi (metallic gold), Lionfish (deep bronze sheen), Moray (golden olive sheen), Peacock (vibrant teal sheen), Purple Tang (dark purple sheen), Silver Dollar (metallic silver) and Stingray (jet black).

Yes, I am looking at Pink Lychee too. And Blood Orange looks so bright and summery. And the cream eyeshadows remind me of the sand and sea.
I so want all the 8 Stila Smudge Sticks! Saw their swatches and they are gorgeous!

Vonvon, YSL has come out with a fantastic collection. Pink Lychee looks like the perfect pink, so pretty and feminine, not too subtle but not over the top either. I like Blood Orange too but I don’t think I could pull it off.
And isn’t it a shame that Stila has recently disappeared from so many countries? I’d love to try those smudge sticks too.
YSL pulled out of Malaysia too! I am not so much a lippie person but I would get it if I can find it.
And yes, back to Stila…..:( I hope Stila would come back to Malaysia. Their smudge pots are great! But smudge sticks would be even more practical and handy.

Vonvon, I didn’t know that, that’s too bad! Maybe you can find it on Strawberry.net? I think they sell YSL and at a discounted price too so it may be worth keeping an eye on it.
I hope so too re Stila. Hopefully they have solved their financial problems and will start expanding again.
