Product Review: Sleek I-Divine Bohemian Eyeshadow Palette

Name: I-Divine Bohemian Eyeshadow Palette
Brand: Sleek
Size: 12×1.1g
Price: £4.99

From Sleek’s website:
The Bohemian palette consists of glimmering metallics, coupled with intense matte tones. The velvet-touch consistency gives full and shimmering coverage to the eye lid for maximum effect.

What I liked:
– beautiful and versatile selection of colors
– very pigmented
– soft texture
– both shimmery and matte shades are easy to apply and blend
– long-lasting
– the price

What I didn’t like:
– if you don’t like matte shades, this is not for you
– the packaging

You already know how much I love my Sleek eyeshadow palettes, so when the brand launched a new LE one, called Bohemian on 18th March, I logged onto their new website and ordered mine straight away. It arrived in less than a week and after playing with it for a few days, I’m in love with it.

The main difference between Bohemian and the other palettes is the packaging. Instead than in a cheap plastic case, they come in a cardboard box decorated with a stunning and artsy design. The box is pure love for me but it’s a shame the artwork wasn’t reproduced on the palette itself as well.

Instead, that is white (not black like the others) and I think it looks a bit cheap and tacky. And if one of the shades breaks like it happened to me (Sleek packaged the palette carefully but the box had a big dent in it which was probably due to some careless postman), it gets all dirty and is a mess to clean up. I already cleaned it twice but as you can see from the pictures, I think I need to do it again.

If you can, I recommend you get the palette in stores so that you can check none of the shades are damaged, but for me, even with a color broken and a dirty case, this palette is worth every penny. Besides, the white case has its pros. I own five of these palettes, all of which have a black case and I always have to check the name at the bottom to find the one I’m looking for. This one instead is easy to recognize. ;)

The color selection is very beautiful, versatile and interesting. It has a mix of green, purple, blue, yellow, copper and brown shades to create lots of different looks from bold and colorful to natural and wearable ones. But if you don’t like matte shades, then this palette isn’t for you. Out of the 12 colors, only 3 are shimmery while the rest have a matte finish.

I like matte eyeshadows and, for those that are new to them, I think this is a perfect opportunity to try them, considering the low price and the variety of different shades this palette has. In addition, all the shades are buttery soft and are very pigmented, the shimmery ones slightly better than the mattes.

But overall, compared to those in the Chaos palette Sleek has improved the quality of the matte shades. They are quite pigmented and just a couple of swipes is enough to get an intense color payoff. And they are also very easy to work with as they blend like a dream. Like always, I’m very impressed by the quality of the I-Divine palettes and you can expect to see me using this palette quite a lot in my future EOTDs. ;)

Summary
Overall, I love Sleek Bohemian palette. It contains 3 shimmery and 9 matte shades that are very versatile and can be used to create lots of different looks. The shades are all pigmented and soft and the price cheap. However, the white plastic case looks cheap and gets dirty easily.

Rating: 4.5/5

Thank you for the review! I want to get this palette, too. Most of my shadows are with shimmer so I need to get it ( I always have a reason to get something, lol)
But I still have a hope to find Safari one :)

Thanks for sharing this! I didn’t realise that this palette was mainly matte. I’m tempted to get it, because I don’t have many matte eyeshadows; but on the other hand, I’m not sure if I’m impressed enough by the actual colours. And I would prefer the black packaging but I suppose it does help to tell them apart ;)

Marina, I’m like you. I have mostly shimmery shadows so when I have the chance to stock up on mattes I take it, especially if it’s from Sleek lol ;) I’m sure you’ll love this palette.

I bought the Safari palette from this website: http://www.alicejohavesentials.nl. They have all the LE palettes and the owner’s very helpful. If you can’t speak Dutch like me, just send her an email in either English or German and she’ll help you out. :)

Nikki, you’re welcome. I agree they are beautiful and, unlike some mattes, very easy to work with. :)

Connie, you’re welcome. Oh, that’s weird, it works fine for me. Maybe try deleting the cookies and refreshing the page? I hope you can get it to work and finally try these fantastic palettes. :)

Simone, you’re welcome. I have to say the swatches don’t do the colors justice, they are more beautiful in real life. But to be honest, I wasn’t too convinced by the color selection at first but since I don’t have many mattes and Sleek palettes have never disappointed me before I went ahead and ordered it. But now I’m in love. I think the shades all work very well with one other, they are very versatile and wearable. If you’re unsure though, I suggest you go to your local Superdrug so that you can play around with the shades a bit to make your mind up. :)

I prefer the black packaging too. While I appreciate the white case is practical to tell it apart from the others, I wish they had gone with a darker color like blue or purple or just reproduced the artsy design on the cardboard box on the black case. That would have been fab!

Charlotte, thanks. Yeah, I was bummed about that, I wish postmen were more careful with the packages. :( It’s still a great palette though.

I managed to view the site but shipping to Malaysia is far too expensive! :(
At least I have the original palette (haven’t started using it though)

Connie, it’s a shame international shipping is so expensive! If you know someone in the UK maybe they can get some things for you with a more reasonable shipping price. I’m glad you have the Original palette, you should definitely start using it, it’s awesome and the colors are so pigmented and easy to work with. You’ll love it ;)

Excuse me for saying this but your pics are like a porn for me. The e/s are drop-dead gorgeous (I love mattes) and your swatches superb! But you’re right. The wihte packaging is boring. In contrast to it, the black one has style. It’s a shame that they haven’t printed the fantastic design on the clinically dead white but maybe next time. Sweetie, it’s your idea so tell them the lovely peeps at Sleek. ;-) Anyways, I cannot wait to see some nice eye make ups done with this palette. Btw, don’t forget the winged liner! ;-) XOX

Loved the pictures. Thank you! My palette arrived with the exact same shadow smashed. Possible defect? I’m waiting for Sleek to send out a replacement.

Mylanqolia, lol, I’m glad you like them. The merit goes to Sleek though to come up with such beautiful colors. As for the packaging, I appreciate the idea of doing something different so you can tell them apart, but it could have been done so much better. The white is a big fail for me, especially because it gets dirty so easily. :( FOTDs coming soon and I won’t forget the winged eyeliner. I’m gonna work on it this weekend and it’ll be bright and colorful ;)

Deborah, thanks and I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s a bit weird but I really hope it’s just a coincidence and that you get your replacement soon. :)

Thank you so much for the review dear! I’m so going to get this when I order from Sleek again. Shame that the packaging requires you to clean it all the time.

Dee, you’re welcome. I couldn’t wait to get this palette, play with it and share it with all of you. :) You know how much I love my Sleek palettes and as usual, this didn’t disappoint. I’m sure you’ll love it too, but this palette is LE so be quick to get it before it sells out. :) The only con is that the packaging gets dirty so easily. I really hope Sleek will return to the black case (or at least come up with darker colors) in the future.

Scelena, oops sorry, I misunderstood. No, old LE palettes aren’t available on sleekmakeup.com anymore. But you can try http://www.alicejohavesentials.nl/. They still have the Bohemian palette and they are reliable. The seller speaks English too.
