Name: Round Lipstick In Louisiana
Brand: NYX
Size: 4g
Price: £3.95
From NYX’s website:
A velvet-texture lipstick formulated with mineral oils to provide moisturizing benefits and rich colors. NYX’s top selling lipstick, the Round Lipstick offers long-lasting, non-smudging color.
What I liked:
– wide selection of colors available
– pigmented
– creamy texture
– easy to apply
– doesn’t bleed
– the packaging
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– can feel a bit drying on the lips
– doesn’t last long
After hearing all the raves about NYX Round Lipsticks, I finally gave in and purchased one. Choosing among the wide selection of shades available (144!) wasn’t easy and took me several days of looking at swatches online, but in the end, I went for Louisiana and I’m very pleased with my choice.
Louisiana is one of the most beautiful pink shades I have ever seen. It is a bright hot pink shade that looks very flattering on cool-toned beauties, but those with warm undertones would be able to rock it too. It is very pigmented and one swipe is enough to achieve an opaque coverage.
The texture is creamy and the lipstick glides on smoothly but if you don’t wear a lip balm underneath it can feel slightly drying on the lips. This is not a problem for me as I always put on lip balm before any other lip products. I also usually use a lip liner before lipsticks, so I didn’t have any problems with bleeding either.
The staying power is only so-so and after less than two hours the color has completely disappeared from my lips. I can’t say I was too disappointed about that as, considered the very cheap price tag, I didn’t really expect it to last too long or stay put after I’ve eaten.
The lipstick is housed in a pretty and sleek black tube which looks pretty and not tacky or cheap at all. At the base, there is a colored band that is identical to the shade inside the tube, which makes it easier to identify the lipstick among your stash.
Summary
Overall, I love NYX Round Lipsticks and I’m definitely gonna get more shades in the near future. They are cheap but work very well. Louisiana, a bright pink, is creamy, pigmented and doesn’t bleed. However, it doesn’t last long on the lips and can feel slightly drying.

Louisiana looks incredibly gorgeous on you! Unfortunately, it’s not really a shade for me
I do love NYX round lipsticks very much though

I like the shade it’s really pretty. About the dryness I think I should apply a sheer lipgloss on top or a balm just before the lipstick.
Nikki, it’s a gorgeous shade, isn’t it? I hope you manage to find it. I got mine from http://www.cocktailcosmetics.co.uk/. International shipping (signed for) is £6 for the first two items and 25p for any additional ones. It’s not cheap but from the UK (and signed for), I think it’s reasonable if you are going to get other stuff as well.
Connie, thanks. I love the shade but it’s really bold and not the easiest to pull off, esp if one has warm undertones. But there are lots of other shades from this range you can rock instead.
I do love these lipsticks too, they are great quality at such an affordable price!
Tavia, it’s a beautiful shade, isn’t it? I usually use a lip balm underneath and it does the trick
Wow!! That’s such a hot color!! I don’t think i can ever rock such a loud color!!
I want to try NYX lipsticks!! I’ve heard so many wonderful things about them!!

I know a friend who buys NYX lipsticks by the bulk cos she says it’s so affordable and of good quality too. And best of all…the myriad of shades!
Love this shade on you.
But I haven’t tried before….at the moment, trying to finish off as much makeup in my stash 1st before embarking on new purchases….

Jenn, it’s a beautiful bold shade isn’t it? You should try their lipsticks, they are so pigmented, inexpensive and available in lots of shades. You won’t be disappointed!
Vonvon, I should learn from you and finish what I already have, but I can’t stop myself from buying new things all the time lol. I wish I had your will power.
And lucky friend you have, that is such a great deal, I agree with her
Gio, I don’t have that much will power, really. But I must try hard…..I am really having storage problem with all my makeup and bath/body products.
Nevertheless, just made a considerably big haul from MAC Spring Forecast. No regrets, though.
Also, I forgot to mention…I try not to buy too many lippies as it takes me a long time to finish one cos I rotate them…so, every lippie would probably get used once or twice a month only….and lippies go off faster than dry powder products like eyeshadows.
Just sharing some of my crazy beauty stories.;)

That’s a lovely pink color on you! I’ve heard it is a similar shade to Pink Nouveau from MAC, which is an older sister of Viva Glam Gaga. I am not so fond of NYX round lipsticks since they are quite drying but they are very pigmented.

that’s a very pretty shade on you! love NYX glosses, but it’s a touch and go for me on the lippies.

Vonvon, well you still have more will power than me, at least you try to finish them. I don’t use lipsticks that much (I prefer glosses) but when I see one I like, and it’s not too expensive, all my good intentions go out of the window and I have to get it even though I know I’ll never finish before it goes bad. I do regularly clear out my stash and give stuff I don’t use away since I’m having storage problems too lol.
It’s nice to splurge every now and again though and MAC Spring Forecast is one of the nicest collections MAC has released lately.
Dao, thanks. I can understand why you’re not too fond of them as the texture feels drying on the lips. Personally I don’t mind considered the cheap price and that I can use lip balm underneath but I wish they were more moisturizing too.
Beetrice, thank you. I have never tried their glosses, but they are next on my list
