Do you use an eye cream?
Beautiful with Brains says: I don’t think a separate eye cream is necessary so, unless I get a sample in some mags or GWP, I just apply whatever face moisturizer I’m using at the moment (provided that it’s not too heavy of course) on my eye area.

I don’t! Simply because none that I’ve used seem to make a difference so I don’t bother anymore

Yes I do! But not daily, I sometimes alternate by using and not using

I’m 24, so I definitely don’t think I need eye cream, but my older sister has been using it since she turned 21. I think she’s a little anal about things like that. I guess she’s using it now to prevent premature wrinkles. I’ve used eye cream in the instances that I get bags under my eyes or when I don’t get enough sleep.
I do! Although right now I don’t notice HUGE difference…but I feel better using one

Connie, I know what you mean. Most of them are so basic and all they do is only moisturize so it’s hard to see if they actually work. That’s why I use my face moisturizer, so my eyes are hydrated and I don’t have to fork out the money for another product.
Nikki, I do that too sometimes when I’m using a heavy moisturizer. I’m scared that’ll cause milia seeds so I just skip it for a day or two lol.
Grace, if a cream contains antioxidanst then it will help prevent wrinkles but it’ll take years for the results to actually show. I don’t think there’s an age to start prevention, whenever you feel like you need it is fine. I like to apply my face lotion to my eye area though so that I keep it moisturized without paying for another product. The prices of eye creams seems so high for such little jars/tubes, don’t they?
prettybeautiful, I know what you mean. Eye creams work but it takes years before one notices that.
In the short run, they don’t really look like they do anything lol.
I used to use one by Garnier, but as you said, they don’t really look like they’re doing anything so it’s easy to just stop. On the other hand, everyone seems to say that the skin around the eyes is so much more delicate, so it really needs its own skincare routine. I apply my regular moisturiser around my eyes but sometimes I wonder if I should go back to using an eye cream as well…or maybe it’s just a money-making gimmick?

Simone, you’e right, it is a money-making gimmick. The skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate but doesn’t need its own skincare cream. If you take a look at the ingredients of eye and face moisturizers, they are practically the same. Eye creams are practically face lotions in a smaller packaging and the price tag is usually pretty high for such a small amount. So, keep using your facial moisturizer in the eye area and in the long run, you’ll see the benefits.
I use an eye serum and cream as well! They are from the Lancome Renergie Morpholift range. Quite expensive but both lasted me 6 months and I just tossed both of them into my empty jars/bottles stash last week.
So do they really work? To a certain extent, yes! My eye bags are less noticeable now. They are still there but not as prominent as before. Dark circles lessened but that’s sleep-dependent for me. And skin around my orbital area is significantly tighter – tested by myself by gently swiping my index finger from the inner corner of my eye to the outer along the lower lash line. The skin doesn’t form ‘fold’….”skin cannot be pulled”.
Pls excuse my poor explanation on the last part.
But don’t think will buy another set of these, as there are pricey. RM195 each (almost 40euros). Back to my dear old EL Eye Recovery complex of which I have several sample jars from GWPs. Should last me a while.

Hi Gio! I definitely use an eye cream. I started about 2 years ago and I think it makes a difference. When I was around 20 I didn’t thought so much about a separate eye cream maybe because I didn’t need it at the time and maybe because I was so young. I would say that after 25 it would be great to use an eye cream because those face moisturizer or creams are not meant to work for the eye area too (unless it’s a 2 in 1 cream which I happened to have from La Mer). My skin eye area is very sensitive so I must choose delicate texture creams that can also help fight the appearance of wrinkles.
Most important is that your eye cream should have SPF
Vonvon, I’m glad the Lancome range worked well for you, esp considered how expensive it is (here that cream costs more than 50 euros!). It’s not too bad when you think these products last for months, but I can’t blame you for going back to your old (and cheaper) cream, I would’ve done that too.
I prefer to just use my usual face moisturizer on my eye area, but if one has specific concerns like dark circles or bags, using a cream targeted for those problems is a good idea. Otherwise, I don’t feel the need to buy a separate product.
Tavia, personally I think it depends on the cream. Some face moisturizers can be too heavy and feel greasy on the eye area, while others may have ingredients that irritate this sensitive area. But, most of the time, eye creams are just face lotions in smaller packaging (just check the ingredient lists of those products, they’re practically the same) and the “eye area needs its own skincare products” is just marketing talk but not necessarily true. Still, I believe that everyone should use what works best for them and if you feel that eye creams work best for you than your face ones, there’s no reason not to use them.
I agree that SPF is a must in any eye (and face) cream too.
Nopie nope. I get more wrinkles by using an eye cream so I avoid it.

Mylanqolia, oh that’s a shame! Do you pat it on with your ring finger? I find that’s more gentle on the skin around the eyes as it doesn’t pull it so it shouldn’t cause wrinkles.
