Mika chan, I agree. Their eye products are one of the things that have disappointed me the most. They may come in a lot of shades, but most of them are LE. And besides, lately all their shadows seem to be easily dupable, less pigmented and chalky. I still like the pigments, but their price is outrageous, esp after the size decrease. I'd also rather support brands like Barry M, Sleek and indie mineral makeup companies, who offer fantastic products at a fraction of the cost.

I know I am very late on your article, but I am slowly joining the number of people abandoning MAC. They are by no means my first choice for eye products anymore. ESPECIALLY with so many independent companies offering so many amazing things at much cheaper prices.

Beautywoome, I know what you mean. I knew they released a lot of collections but I didn't think these many! And I stopped counting when I reached 30 cos it was just ridiculuos!

Thanks. I never thought about a reply but I'll think about that and see what I can come up with. Maybe I should just send the letter to MAC and see if they bother to reply.

I'm pretty mad at them for downsizing products but keeping prices the same. How can anyone think it's ok to pay the same for less, esp when the quality is decreasing too. Unfortunately unless more people start complaining and stop buying their products things won't change. They'll probably get worse and everything else will be downsized too. :(

Supermariposa, I agree with everything you said. Of course MAC, just like any other brand, has some fantastic products and there's no reason not to buy them. But most of their products are just average and so not worth the ever-increasing price tag. Their lipglosses lately are all the same, all sheer with little to no color at all. Once you apply them on your lips, you can't distinguish them at all. And while I'm still in love with their brushes (they're amazing!), I'll look for a cheaper alternative (and there are many) before splurging on them. And all these collections are really starting to get on my nerves. They're too many all so boring!

I wish more people, esp those MAC die-hard fans, realized that MAC isn't worth the hype anymore. If only they explored other brands they'd see how much money they've spent on average, chalky, not pigmented cosmetics. And then, maybe MAC would change its ways and start giving us again those great quality items they used to release years ago. But sadly I can't see that happening anytime soon.

But maybe if we stick together and spread the word, people will at least start wondering and we could make a difference :)

I'm looking forward to Give Me Liberty Of London as well. The anglophile in me is tempted to get everything just for the name, but I won't. I'm hoping the shades will be unique and pigmented so that I could justify buying an item or two but I don't think that'll happen. And I'm not liking that the scarf in the collection is priced at $95! What is it made of? Gold?

Holy crap... 30 launches in 2009? I didn't realise there were so many. You know, they happen so often, you sort of don't count.

Love the letter format. Genius. Are you going to write up a mock reply from the brand? A bit of make believe banter would be hilarious.

I feel the same way about the glosses, was put off by downsizing a product simply because they can (no doubt, consultants were involved with that decision) without reflecting a similar downsize in price but I do love my Ruby Woo...

I couldnt agree more. I came relatively new to MAC and honestly couldnt understand the hype. Of course there are some gems amid the tat such as the mineralize blushes which I think are beautiful and the msf natural, which is my everyday foundation. But honestly aside from that, everything is just a bit....bleh. The blushes are either very sheer or chalky and I find a lot of their lipglosses are all pretty much the same shade as one another and so sticky I can't speak. The brushes are good, but sigma dupes them and in some cases improves them for much less money. The collections are uninspiring and being thrust upon us every 10 seconds.

I won't boycott MAC completely but it's definitely not a go-to anymore for me and I think other's should do similar, as somthing of a protest to how MAC is downgrading its quality.

Of course this won't happen as there are so many MACophiles out there that will stick ridgidly and not see that almost every item they have is done the same or better by another, smaller brand who I would rather support. But maybe we could make a difference.

I am awaiting the spring 2010 collections, such as the Give Me Liberty of London collection with baited breath, as I think these will decide whether me and AMC have any future at all.
