Being a lipgloss girl, I never used lip liners much. It’s only in the past year that I discovered how useful they are when wearing lipsticks: they define lips, make application easier and don’t allow the color to move around.
Still, I only own a couple of cheap nude lip liners that can be used with any color, so I was pleased to have the chance to try some eyeliners from Senna and see how they compare to the drugstore ones. You can choose between the single Linear Lip Liner which is available in 11 shades and the Double Lip Liner (same formula, but you get two colors for just $1 more) which is available in 2 color combinations.

The Linear Lip Liner in Purr is a neutral rose pink shade, while the Double Lip Liner features a rose beige and a warm pink shades. They all are medium pigmented and being neutral-based they can be used as a base for a lot of different shades.
The liners have a creamy texture that goes on smoothly. They are comfortable to wear, but I still find them slightly drying. Not as much as most lip liners out there, which I was very pleasantly surprised about, but I still like to apply a layer of lip balm underneath them.
I find these lip liners do a good job at filling in and defining lips and don’t bleed nor allow your lipstick to. I was beginning to love them when they miserably failed the staying power test. Applied alone, they give a sheer and natural tint to the lips, but only for about an hour. Then it fades.
When used as a base for lipstick, it lasts slightly longer. But I find that, when the lipstick fades, so does the liner and there’s no color at all left on my lips. What a bummer! Overall, I think Senna is an underrated brand that makes pretty good products, but for lip liners, I’d still rather buy them at drugstores.
I think these liners are overpriced considering they don’t last long but if you’re still curious to try them, I suggest you go for the Double Lip Liner. It’s only $1.00 more than the single pencil so you get two shades for (almost) the price of one.
Summary
Overall, these lip liners are just average. They have a creamy-barely-drying texture, don’t bleed and define the lips well, but the staying power is poor and the price steep.
