Looks: Smokey Dark Green + Sleek Safari palette

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and feel refreshed and ready to start a new week. :) I’m into smokey eyes lately, so I’ve done one using MAC Deep Blue Green Pigment.

I’m not very pleased with how it turned out. I probably should have used a darker liquid green liner, but since I don’t have one at the moment, this is the best I could do. Hope you like it and constructive criticism is always welcome.

Products used:
– Urban Decay Primer Potion
– Sleek Curious palette (light green and white)
– MAC Deep Blue Green Pigment
– Pupa black pencil eyeliner
– Prestige Eyeliner pencil in Kiwi
– Wet n Wild Kajal & Eyeliner in white
– L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion mascara

Directions:
– Apply UDPP all over lid to create a sticky base for the pigments to adhere to.
– Swipe a light green shade (I used the one in Sleek Curious palette) on the lid and crease.
– Apply MAC Deep Blue Green pigment on top of the green shade you have previously applied to make the color pop even more.
– Swipe a white shade (I used the one in Sleek Curious palette) on the browbone to highlight.
– Line your upper lid with a green eyeliner (I used Prestige pencil liner in Kiwi, but if you have a darker shade, that would work better) and your lower lashline with a black pencil liner.
– Apply a white eyeliner (I used Wet n Wild Kajal & Eyeliner) on the waterline to open up the eyes.
– Finish off with mascara.

In other news, I finally managed to get hold of a Sleek Safari palette! Yay! This was a limited edition palette, featuring a mix of neutral and colorful shades, only available in the UK for a month during summer and I thought it was impossible to find by now.

I know many of you are interested in purchasing these palettes and now you can find them on a Dutch website: http://www.alicejohavesentials.nl. They have all the Sleek palettes released so far, including those hard-to-find limited edition, but hurry up as they are selling out fast!

Apart from Sleek products, the store also sells products from brands like Barry M, Jelly Pong Pong, Steam Cream, Chickepoop and lots more! I have to thank my lovely friend Celeste for letting me know about this website and its owner too, for being very helpful.

I had a few problems when making my order. First I couldn’t create an account, so the owner did that for me and then I got an error every time I tried to select a shipping option, so they simply sent me a paypal invoice instead.

I don’t know why I had so many problems since the site works well for everyone else, but I was very pleased with their customer service. They always replied to my emails within 10 minutes and were extremely helpful.

They shipped my palette the very same day I ordered it and I got it after 10 days. Sleek eyeshadows are soft and break easily, but the palette was carefully wrapped and arrived in perfect condition. Overall, I had a positive experience and I definitely plan to order more things after the holidays.

Citrine, thank you. Aww but I’m sure you can pull off very well lots of other beautiful, wearable looks :)

Vonvon, awww thank you, you’re very sweet :)

That’s one of my fave palettes from Sleek. It has a nice mix of colorful and natural shades in both shimmery and matte finishes. It’s a very versatile palette :)

Jenn, thanks you hun. I love smokey eyes too, they are sexy yet chic :)

That’s one of the things that attracted me to the palettes. It has both light and dark shades, both neutral and bight colors and both matte and shimmer finishes. There is truly something for everyone :)

Ohh, I haven’t checked that site yet. I was think about ordering soon. Maybe I should email them and ask them if I can pay them through Paypal and see how it goes. If you wanted the green to be darker, you should try applying the green over a black pencil? It might gvie your the effect you want dear. But I think it looks beautiful I like how soft it is<3

Dee, I only found out about that site recently. It’s nice to know that Sleek products are slowly becoming more easily available for everyone. I know they have plans to release the line in the USA but I’m not sure when that will happen. I think you should send the owner an email and see what they say.

Thanks, I’m glad you like it. I hadn’t thought about applying the green liner over a black one but I’ll probably try that next time, thanks :)

Meream, thanks, I’m glad you do. When I do such dark and dramatic looks, I usually pair them with a sheer and soft pink lipgloss. It goes well with the look and it doesn’t take attention away from the eyes :)

A very pretty and excellently blended (it’s extremely smokey, baby!;-) ) EOTD as always! Thanks also for the information on the Dutch online shop. A girl mentioned it in my blog before but I thought that the owner would only correspond with potential customers in Dutch. Really good to know as I’m interested in the LE palettes. But know what? I’m yearning for a Sleek palette with lots of different purple shades. *dream* It’s a pity that Sleek don’t launch a poll to ask us what kind of colours we want.*sneef*

Mylanqolia, thanks a lot. I’m glad it like it, I’ve spent a lot of time blending it :)

You’re welcome. When my friend Celeste told me about the website and that it shipped internationally, I decided to send them an email to double check and see if the Safari palette was in stock since the website is in Dutch and I can’t understand a word of it lol. I was worried the owner wouldn’t understand English but turns out that she speaks it really well :) And she is very helpful too.

A palette with lots of purples would be awesome! The Graphite one has mostly grey shades so maybe they’ll release a purple one in the future *dreams too*

Oh, yeah, though Dutch seems to be similiar to German it sounds so strange. My sister studied it at uni but I can’t ask her everytime to translate for me. So it’s good to know that I can write to the owner in English. By the way, do you know http://glamr.co.uk/shop/ ? I’ve found their shop via a recent youtube vid and the shop seems to be reliable. I always try to compare the shipping costs. How much did you paid for shipping at the Dutch shop? At shadesbeauty.moonfruit.com I paid for two items around 5 bucks, err, 5 pounds (2.99 fixed costs plus extra shipping) which means a lot in comparision to the glamr-shop. Unfortunately, sleek haven’t launched their official shop yet. I don’t know if they ever do so. Maybe next year, who knows…
Yes, 12 different colours of purple made by Sleek-I hope this dream come true. Maybe next year? ;-)

Mylanqolia, that’s cool that your sister speaks Dutch. I wish I could speak it too, but I have to rely on google translator instead, and that doesn’t always come up with good translations. So I was relieved that the owner speaks English too. :)

I’ve heard of the Glamr website from pixiwoo (at least I think it was them). I haven’t bought anything from them yet but I might do after the holidays. They have a few brands like Pixi and Pop Beauty that I’m interested in trying. And then there’s Sleek of course.

The owner of the Dutch shop gave me the shipping prices for Italy but I think they are the same for all Europe. Here they are:
    1 product: €1,78
    2-4 products: €3,75
    5-8 products: €5,95
    9 or more: €9,00
If you pay by paypal though there’s an extra fee to cover paypal fees. In total I paid €9,43 (€6,99 for the palette, €1,78 for p&p and €0,66 for paypal fee). If you don’t pay with paypal, getting the palette from Glamr or the Dutch shop should cost you pretty much the same.

Sleek have been saying for months on their website that they are gonna launch their ecommerce site soon, so I think they’ll do it. But they should get a move on, people are tired of waiting!

That would be awesome! I hear purple is gonna be very in this upcoming spring, so maybe they will release a palette full of those shades. They totally should anyway ;)

Hi sweetie! Guess what! I got in touch with dear Alice. She offered me to write in German, which is much better, as I make too many mistakes in English. Shame on me – I’m no language genius. :-( Yeah, it’s cool that my sis can speak Dutch but she doesn’t have the time to translate for me as she is very busy. I’d have asked her but well, I have to wait. I’m just her sis. I’m not the queen or the pope. ;-) Anyways, I wanted to order at glamr (yeah, it was pixiwoo who mention them!) but all of the Sleek limited editions e/s palettes are out of stock. Shite happens. But since I know that Alice can speak German, I’m not that fond of glamr anymore. Do you know by chance where I can get the super cheap Primark cosmetics items, which some british youtubers present in their vids? I’m totally interested in testing the Primark stuff but I can’t find any online shops that offer the cheap brand. Besides, I don’t have any Primark shop in my local area, so I have to order them online. Pixi and Pop Beauty stuff looks promising, by the way. I have to wait for your reviews on them. :-) Which items will you purchase? Any preferences?
You’re absolutely right in saying that people getting tired of waiting for the shop. I’d appreciate it when they keep us updated about the development of the shop. I mean, this would be fair as some people actually don’t know about the online shops.
Thanks God purple will become a must in spring. By the way, could you do a purple and green eye make up for me? I’d be happy to see a colour explosion on your eyes again. Thanks so much in advance. Hugs

Hi hun, I forgot to say yesterday that I’m sorry it has taken me a couple of days to reply, but I had been away for the weekend. That’s good that Alice can speak German too, I wish I could speak so many languages too. And your English is very good actually ;) I hope you enjoy your palettes, which ones are you gonna get apart from Curious?

Unfortunately I don’t think Primark products can be bought online. I’ve been looking for them too but so far no luck. It’s a shame cos they have so many nice things at very cheap prices. There are no Primark stores here in Italy either and I discovered the brand when I went to London. I only got some clothes then cos they didn’t sell makeup at the time, at least I didn’t see any. But I hate shopping at their store in Oxford Street, it’s always so crowded! I think the only option is to ask someone that lives in the UK to get the goodies for us. As for Pixi and Pop Beauty, I’m interested in the eyeliners and primers mostly. Everything else looks pretty too, esp the pop eyeshadow palettes but I don’t think I’ll end up using all the colors in them lol.

They posted on their website that their new site would be launched shortly but that was in August! They should be ready pretty soon now but the waiting is awful! I wish they told us if they have been having problems or why it’s taking so much. But it’ll be worth the wait once the site is launched ;)

Of course I can. I adore purple and green and they look so well together. I’ll go play with makeup now and see what I can come up with :)

  13. says

Oh, c’mon, it’s no prob that you take your time to reply. I’m not your strict granny who reprimand you for that. But I’m happy anyway that you answered. :-) Thanks for the compliments on my English language but believe me, yours is way better than mine. Have you studied it, by the way? Yes, it’s quite unfair that so many Dutch people can speak German as they learn it at school. But guess what! There are any Dutch lessons offered at schools in Germany. French, Spanish and Latin (well, I don’t have any idea why we learn a dead language – Italian would be much cooler) are the only available foreign languages. I’ve chosen French and Latin and I admit that I regret it now. :-(Well, I’ve only ordered the Curious palette (I have to pay 9, 44€ in general, i.e. 1 cent more in total which isn’t the end of the world) because the Graphite was sold out. Besides, I’m more interested in the upcoming limited editions. :-)

Hey, what a coincidence! Let me guess-you were also infected by the Primark cosmetics virus after having watched some youtube vids. ;-) Well, I think it’s not that easy to find a swapper there. I’ve already asked Faye at http://www.prettyhead.co.uk/ to search for a forum for me with willing swappers but her search wasn’t successful in the end. Besides, I’m too shy to ask a British guru as I feel like a sponger. Maybe we should do a blog appeal.;-) Yeah, you’re absolutely right. London, especially the Oxford Street, is overcowded by tourists. I prefer the North of England considering shopping. But Primark and Superdrug didn’t sell my most-wanted cosmetics wehn I’ve been there. Oh, I’m curious to read your first review on the eyeliners by Pixi and Pop Beauty. But don’t worry I can wait. :-)

Thanks so much for doing a purple and green e/s combo! It’s great that you take my request into consideration. To be honest, I didn’t know that you accept requests so I was uncertain to ask you. But hey, thanks again! XOX

Mylanqolia, I hate replying to comments so late, that’s a pet peeve of mine I guess but sometimes I can’t help it. I’m not around much during the holidays, but I always reply to comments once I get back, I love talking to you guys. Thanks for being so understanding :)

Thanks for the compliment on my English, but yours is excellent too. I studied English at school, but they only taught us the basics. I just love the English language so much that I started learning it on my own by reading books and watching videos. There’s still a lot I have to learn, though. I also studied Latin at school and like you, I couldn’t understand why lol. Most schools here only teach English, but there are some that teach French, Spanish and Latin as well. Unfortunately my school only taught Latin and English, or I would have choosen French or Spanish since they are more useful than a dead language. I would love to learn Dutch or German too but I don’t know how lol, they aren’t taught at schools here, well only at unis.

yeah, I need to blame youtube too for making me want Primark cosmetics lol. That place is so bad and has created so many lemmings lol. have you tried this forum? http://www.beautyswapshop.co.uk/ I found it out recently and haven’t registered yet but it’s a uk based forum so hopefully you’ll find someone that can help you. I have a couple of friends in the UK I can ask to send me stuff. One is Ana from Lipsticks & Lightsabers (link in my blogroll). If you send her an email, I’m sure she’ll get you want you want. She’s also having a giveaway at her blog at the moment and one of the prizes is the Graphite palette. ;)

I haven’t ordered the eyeliners yet cos I don’t trust making orders during the holidays with the postal services being busier than usual, but as soon as they’re over, I’ll order them. can’t wait :)

I’m glad to take any requests my readers have. I’m not sure I can fulfill them all but I’ll certainly do my best :) Feel free to make any requests you want in the future hun and I hope to have the EOTD pix up as soon as possible, I just need to crop them :)

Vielen Dank für deine Antwort ! This means “thanks so much for your answer” in German. Yay, you don’t need to visit a university. I can teach you some words here. ;-) Honestly, I think I’m a horrible teacher so don’t trust me. *lol*
Wow, it’s cool that you’ve found a UK based forum! Kudos to you! I’ll have a look at it and register soon as I can’t wait to find a trusty swapper. You can be lucky to know Ana (I’m already a follower of her superb blog because I can’t remember the blog name *blush*) ! Yeah, I know that she kindly does a real cool giveaway on her blog but I don’t trust my abilities to win. Goddess Fortuna doesn’t like me. She’s like a mighty wind which blows against me. :-)
Pass auf dich auf (it means “take care” in German)!

Mylanqolia, I hope you can find some trusty swapper that can get you what you need :) Yeah, Ana is a really lovely, clever and talented girl and I’m sure she’ll get something from you if you ask her. And you should try entering her giveaway anyway. I know there’s a lot of competition but you can’t win it unless you’re in it! And you have nothing to lose and it’s fun to try anyway. And slaps Goddess Fortuna, why doesn’t she like you? You’re lovely. You never know, the wind might change soon ;) and thanks for teaching me some German.

Pass auf dich auf (see, you’re a good teacher :) )
