helena rubinstein collagenist eye cream
Name: Collagenist Eye Zoom with pro-Xfill
Brand: Helena Rubinstein
Size: 15ml
Price: €59.01

From Helena Rubinstein’s website:
Based on their avant-garde collagen expertise, the HELENA RUBINSTEIN Research Laboratories have created a plumping eye contour care enriched with pro-Xfill to restore density and tone to the eye contour, light up and chase away shadows and immediately smooth lines radiating around the eye.

What I liked:
- moisturizing
- no milia seeds
- fine lines appeared slightly reduced
- not irritating
- the packaging

What I didn’t like:
- does nothing for dark circles
- doesn’t tone the eye area
- didn’t see any noticeable difference after using it for a month
- the price

A while ago I purchased a Helena Rubinstein kit that contained sample sizes of some of her most popular products, including the Collagenist Eye Zoom with pro-Xfill eye cream. I was curious to see how such an expensive eye cream would work but for me the results were pretty disappointing.

The cream is white in color and has a very light consistency that goes on smoothly, leaving skin hydrated and soft without causing milia seeds. I also noticed that the fine lines around my eyes appeared slightly reduced, but only temporarily. But that’s pretty much all this expensive cream does. And any good moisturizer out there will do the same thing, maybe even more.

Considering the high price, I was expecting more but this cream is pretty basic and won’t do anything for my dark circles, didn’t de-puff my under eye bags and it certainly didn’t tone my eye area. But at least it didn’t irritate it either.

The cream contains humectants, like Glycerin, that attracts water from the air into the skin and silicones, like Cyclohexasiloxane, that temporarily fill in fine lines and wrinkles, give skin a silky feeling and create a protective barrier on the skin that binds water in.

It is also loaded with emollients like Stearic Acid (a fatty acid), Stearyl Alcohol and Cetyl Alcohol (both fatty alcohols that can be derived from coconut oil) that hydrate skin and give it a soft and smooth appearance.

The cream also contain collagen in the form of Atellocollagen but because it isn’t present in high concentrations, it won’t do much. The claim that this ingredient can stimulate collagen production when it penetrates the skin hasn’t been proved and in any case, collagen is too big to penetrate the skin when applied topically. However, it is an effective moisturizer.

Summary:
Overall, Helena Rubinstein Collagenist Eye Zoom with pro-Xfill Eye Cream is a basic moisturizer with an insanely high price. It will hydrate skin and make small lines look a bit smaller, but that’s it. It didn’t nothing for my dark circles or my bags and didn’t make my skin firmer either.

From your review, this one is probably more suitable for younger girls, who just need to keep their problems under control and moisture the eye area. Maybe is best to use it before your fine lines appears :)

Tavia, I agree. This is a very basic cream to use when you’re younger and you only need to moisturize the eye area. But still, I think the price is way too high for what it does.
