I have to admit that bananas aren’t my favourite fruits to eat, but I love using them to create some homemade beauty masks as they have moisturizing and cleansing properties.
Bananas contain tryptophan, an amino acid which has nourishing properties for the skin, Vitamins A and C which are considered to be powerful antioxidants and fruit acids that act as exfoliants. There are lots of recipes you can make with them, but here are two of my favourites:
1. Banana Oatmeal Mask to brighten skin
Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of oatmeal depending on how big the banana is
Peel the banana and put it into a bowl. Add the oatmeal and mash them together, a little at a time.
Apply the mixture to your face and wait for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
2. Banana and Avocado Facial Mask
Ingredients:
- 1/2 banana
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of yogurt
Mix the ingredients together in a blender until you get a soft, but not too runny consistency. Apply it to your face and wait about 15 minutes. Then, rinse off with lukewarm water. The mask will nourish your skin and exfoliate it too.
Have you ever used a homemade beauty recipe made with bananas? Do you have some more you wanna share? Let me know in the comments.

Dao, thanks, I’m glad you like them.
I’ve kind of put off on using banana on my face since sometimes I can’t handle they way banana smells. I’ve use banana with honey once, and I the banana was so weird to me. But it made my skin super soft, lol. I might just try banana with avocado. Thanks for the recipes Gio!
