Product Review: Senna Cheeky Blush

Posted by beautifulwithbrains | November 18, 2009 .

senna cheeky blush 01
Name: Cheeky Blush
Brand: Senna
Size: 0.12oz/3.4g
Price: $19.00

From Senna’s website:
If powders act dry and creams too short-lived, you’ll love this combination blush. You’ll have the lively glow of a cream with the lasting power of a powder. Dab it on and forget it all day.

What I liked:
- beautiful shades available
- very shimmery
- pigmented
- not sticky
- quite long-lasting for a cream blush

What I didn’t like:
- the price

I’ve been talking about Senna Cosmetics quite a lot lately and, just like every other line, they have some amazing products and a few there are just so-so, but one in particular, Cheeky Blush, has completely blown me away.

Available in 6 shades, Cheeky Blush is a cream blush that is very soft to the touch and blends effortlessly into the skin. But unlike most cream blushes, it doesn’t feel sticky on the cheeks at all.

The shade I have is called Coy and is a pigmented and beautiful peachy pink that gives cheeks a nice and glowy flush. It is chock full of shimmers that will make your cheeks sparkle. The effect is really nice; it won’t make you resemble a disco ball but still this isn’t for the faint of heart. If you don’t like your blushes shimmery, you’d better skip this.

But what really impressed me about this blush is the staying power. I rarely use cream blushes cos they tend to disappear pretty soon and need to be reapplied frequently. So, I was very surprised when after 8 hours of wear, Coy was still there! After that, it starts to fade but I only need to reapply it once a day. Not bad for a cream blush at all.

The blush is packaged in a circular silver pot, which has a mirror inside. I find the mirror to be too small to be useful, but for an emergency touch-up, it’ll do.

Summary
Overall, I’m in love with Senna Cheeky blushes! They are on the expensive side and not everyone will love how shimmery they are, but the colors are beautiful, pigmented and easy to blend to achieve a lovely glow. In addition, they last for hours and don’t feel sticky on the skin.

Rating: 4.5/5

Dao, it’s a really beautiful shade. I was hoping to post a FOTD so you all could see how pretty it is but because I have very pale skin and I apply it lightly not to resemble a clown, the blush was so washed out and couldn’t really be seen in the pix :( I’ll keep trying though ;)

Oh, I was going to ask the same question as Dao…what a pity it doesn’t photograph well, it looks gorgeous! I’m a blusher lover, I look awful without some colour in my cheeks! Did you order it directly from their website? xx

Anna, I guess it’s because I have very pale skin. Maybe I should try applying more when I take pix. I may look like a clown in real life but maybe it’ll show well in pix and I can take it off afterwards, I’ll have to try that :) I wish you all could see it better, it looks so beautiful and glowy.

The blush, like all the other Senna products, was sent to me by a Senna pr representative for consideration. Which reminds that I have to start adding how I get the products to every post. I wanted to wait and write the disclaimer first but now that I have done that, I’ll start including this info to every review, both future and past (which may take a while :) ).

prettybeautiful, no it doesn’t look red at all. It’s a lovely peach pink on the cheeks and can be applied very sheer too :)
