dsquared2 he wood

Name: He Wood
Brand: Dsquared2
Size: 1.07oz
Price: $59.00

What I liked:
- nice scent
- long-lasting
- the packaging

What I didn’t like:
- not very original

He Wood, Dsquared2′s first men fragrance was launched in September 2007. The founders of the brand, Dean and Dan Caten, wanted the perfume to reflect their love for their native land, Canada. They chose to do that by capturing the essence of solid, strong and vibrant wood.

The theme of the perfume is also reflected in the packaging. The squared bottle is framed by Canadian Red Alder wood, which makes each bottle unique because of the different hues and grains, while the stopper is off-centered. I really love the bottle: it’s simple, elegant and eye-catching.

However, the fragrance itself doesn’t smell like wood. It opens with some musky notes blended with amber but that doesn’t last long; the heart is floral with the prominent lavender note that smells very artificial. I have to wait for the dry drown to smell wood: just a very soft note of cedar.

Overall, the notes all blend very well with each other, but because of that there is nothing distinctive about this fragrance. The scent is strong, but not overpowering and very wearable. It’s perfect for daytime and can be worn at the office too. And because the staying power is excellent you don’t have to reapply throughout the day.

Summary
Overall, He Wood by DSquared2 is a nice daytime fragrance that lasts all day. However, it doesn’t really smell like wood and there is nothing unique about it.

Rating: 3/5
