too faced lip of luxury 03

Name: Lip of Luxury
Brand: Too Faced
Size: 3.5g/0.12oz
Price: $18.00

From Too Faced’s website:
Drenched in shea butter rich color and diamond shine our exclusive formula smoothes out fine lines and creases while it pampers your lips with a fizzy moisture surge of pure champagne essences. This billion-dollar blend of pure pigments has serious staying power and feels as soft as satin on the lips.

What I liked:
- available in lots of shades
- creamy texture
- moisturizing
- doesn’t bleed
- the packaging

What I didn’t like:
- the scent
- the price

I’m a sucker for anything pink so when I saw this lipstick I just had to have it. The packaging is so cute and girly! The shiny and metallic pink tube has a diamond-like crystal on the top of the cap and I feel like a princess every time I use it. But I have to say I’m not sure I’d feel this way about the packaging if I were 20 years older as I think it appeals more to young girls.

The lipstick is available in 12 shades. I have Centerfold, a brownish mauve/pink shade that looks very natural on the lips. The pigmentation is good and its creamy consistency ensures a smooth application. It is also fairly moisturizing (but not thanks to Shea Butter since it’s listed fairly down the ingredient list and so won’t do much), but I still like to use lip balm underneath.

Once applied, the lipstick would stay put and not bleed nor smudge. It’s not one of the most long-lasting lippies I’ve tried and it disappears after about two hours of wear, so I need to reapply it often. Still, I think the staying power is decent for a lipstick.

But even though I like these lipsticks I won’t purchase more simply because I hate the scent! Not only it is quite strong and you can still smell it for a while once applied on your lips, which is something I can’t stand in lip products, but it’s very unappealing! I’m not sure if it smells like champagne as I’m a teetotaller and don’t know what champagne smells like but it reminds me vaguely of grapes.

I’ve bought this online so I didn’t have a chance to smell the scent before purchasing but I strongly urge you to do so if you’re considering getting this lipstick as the scent may put some people off. And in case you’re wondering about the champagne essence claims, that’s just grape extract.

Summary:
Overall, Too Faced Lip Of Luxury is an average lipstick with a very pretty and fancy packaging. It is creamy, moisturizing and doesn’t bleed but the staying power is just ok and the scent is strong and unappealing.

Rating: 3.5/5

It’s such a pretty color but it’s so sad that the scent bothers you. 18 dollars for a lipstick is a lot, you can get a Chanel lipstick for a few dollars more.

Jamilla: it is pretty and looks so natural, I really like it. The Chanel collection looks gorgeous too!

Dao: I was really disappointed by the scent. The color is beautiful and if it wasn’t for the smell, I’d wear it all the time. Instead, I hardly use it. And that’s why I didn’t give it a higher rating. It’s a good lipstick but it does what any lippie does and for $18.00 I expected something more. I’d rather spend more and get a Lancome lipstick. Those are amazing and worth every penny!

Nikki: thanks, and I agree about the packaging, it’s very pretty and girly.

fabulessbeauty: I agree. It’s a pretty basic lipstick and for the price I expect more than that.

Ahleessa: thanks! And you’re welcome, I’m glad to hear Tobey is doing better and I hope he fully recovers soon.

There is no need to apologize Anna, I understand that people don’t always have the time to comment. I’m sorry that I didn’t comment much on your blog lately, but I’ve been so busy I didn’t have much time to read my favourite beauty blogs. But I am slowly catching up. ;)

I’ve bought the lipstick from Cocktail Cosmetics, here’s the link: http://www.cocktailcosmetics.co.uk/ They have a nice selection of products from Too Faced, Urban Decay, Barry M, Gosh, NYX and other brands at affordable prices. Delivery is pretty quick too.
