Name: Complexion Brush
Brand: E.L.F. Studio Line
Price: £3.50
From E.L.F.’s website:
-Creates an even and natural finish
-Expertly sweeps all types of powders across the entire face and sculpts features beautifully
-Use with pressed, loose, or translucent powders, blush or bronzer
What I liked:
- very soft
- applies powder sheerly
- doesn’t shed
- doesn’t bleed
- the price
What I didn’t like:
- too large for contouring
I was looking for a blush brush and when the ELF Studio Line was released here I decided to get the Complexion brush after hearing so many people rave about it.
The £3.50 dome shaped brush is black, has synthetic bristles, and looks very sleek and professional. But when I first saw it I was a bit disappointed as the bristles looked a bit too flimsy for me (I usually prefer something more dense).
But that turned out to be a good thing as the fluffy bristles don’t pick up too much product so even the most pigmented blushes apply sheerly and give just a soft pop of color, which is perfectt for pale-skinned girls like me. And if you want, you can also build-up the intensity of the color.
I also used the brush to contour and it did a decent job. But I still prefer to use my Sephora Professionel Angled Brush Blush #40 for that as I feel the ELF brush is a bit too wide to contour properly.
But overall, the blush is perfect to apply any type of powder, either dry or wet, to you face and the bristles are insanely soft! This is definitely one of the softest brushes I have ever used.
Also, the brush doesn’t shed nor bleed and reshapes well after washing. It has a strong chemical scent, but that disappears as soon as you wash it.
Summary
Overall, I love this brush. The bristles are very soft and pick up just the right amount of product to give your cheeks a nice and sheer pop of color. It doesn’t shed nor bleed and it is very inexpensive. However, the brush is too big for contouring.

It would be nice if they have this in store…I have rotten luck with those cheap-but-everybody-loves-it brushes : Sonia Kashuk (not even that cheap) , NYX, CVS essense of beauty…The ones I have are all horrible.
I do like the elf shadow brush I have gotten though, but only because I pick them from the batch in my grocery store, if I were to order this online, with my luck, they all bound to be defective.
I was considering to purchase this brush for a minute and realized I already have a lot of similar ones at home. I’m glad you like it, I’ve heard lots of good things about this one.

Citrine: that’s a shame. I think most of the brushes from ELF are just average, but the eyeshadow brush from the regular line and the Complexion and Powder brushes from the Studio work amazingly well. I hope they’ll start selling them in stores soon, you won’t be disappointed.
Dao: this brush deserves all the good raves it’s getting, it’s really good, which surprised me considering the price. It’s not necessary to have if you own other blush brushes but for someone starting out and looking for a cheap, good-quality tool this is perfect.
Angela: you’re welcome. The Studio Line brushes are really good. I have the powder brush too and it’s HG material for me. It applies liquid foundation very well and works great with powders too. I don’t think one can ever have too many brushes but waiting for the sale is always a good idea
Hanna: ELF has some really nice brushes, esp those from the Studio Line. The quality is amazing and they’re so soft! The regular ones are more hit and miss imo. I’m glad the kabuki brush works so well for you
Anastacia: ELF has some nice brushes and are so inexpensive! You should try them if you have the chance.
