lumiere color corrective concealers 01

Name: Loose Powder Correctors in Mint Green, Sunflower, Salmon and Blue
Brand: Lumiere
Size: 12gm
Price: $12.00

From Lumiere’s website:
When stubborn facial imperfections such as pigment irregularities, acne, scars, or dark circles won’t stay hidden behind foundation, it’s time to camouflage them with our mineral concealers & correctors.
Mint Green – Neutralize redness
Sunflower – Neutralize Redness & Brighten Dull Skin
Blue – Neutralize Orange, Great for when you over due the self-tanner!
Salmon – Neutralizes Blue, Great for dark under eye circles

What I liked:
- green concealer covers redness completely
- blue concealer is good at neutralising orange
- salmon concealer reduces the appearance of dark circles
- sunflower concealer hides redness while highlighting the complexion
- blend easily
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- messy
- don’t last all day
- salmon concealer doesn’t hide dark circles completely

I love color corrector concealers. They are very useful to mask any skin imperfections like redness, dark circles, hyperpigmentation and sallowness. So, when I had the chance to try some color correctors from Lumiere, I was very excited.

I received four of the five color correctors available (the one I don’t have is lavender, which neutralizes sallowness). They are all quite finely milled, easy to blend and provide sheer to medium coverage, which, in most cases, is enough to cover imperfections.

They stay put for most of the day but you can prolong their staying power by using a primer underneath. Like most mineral concealers, these are very messy, so be careful when you use them or the powder will fly everywhere!

lumiere color corrective concealers 02

A green concealer is a must for me because I have redness on my cheeks and the Mint Green corrector manages to hide it completely. It’s also good at neutralizing the redness from pimples. A little goes a long way with this, so the jar will last you for a long time. The only downside would be that it gives my face an ashen cast, but I apply mineral foundation on top, so that’s not a problem for me.

The Sunflower corrector is my favourite of the bunch. Not only a light dusting of the powder neutralizes facial redness, but it also acts as a highlighter, brightening up the complexion. But you need to blend it very carefully or it may look a bit unnatural on pale skin.

The Salmon Corrector is recommended to conceal dark circles. I have really horrible, very dark circles under my eyes and this concealer didn’t hide them completely. I wasn’t too disappointed as I didn’t expect it too, very few concealers can actually do that since my dark circles are really bad. But it reduced their appearance and once I applied foundation, they weren’t very noticeable anymore. But if you don’t have very dark circles, I think this will cover them totally.

The Blue corrector is supposed to cover orange and is very useful when you overdo the self-tanner. I admit I didn’t have a clue how to use this since I never use self-tanners. They just make you look fake and I love my pale skin anyway. My boyfriend, instead, loves spending time at the beach during summer and, as a result, his skin becomes orangey. So, I decided to test this on him (he wasn’t very happy about it). The blue concealer did what it promised: it neutralized the orange pretty well and his skin took up a fairly natural, healthy shade. But you need to be careful not to apply too much and blend well or it may look a bit cakey and give your skin an ashen cast.

The concealers are available in XX large jars (12gm, $12.00 each), sample jars (1/4 tsp, $2.50 each) and sample baggie ($1.00 each) on Lumierecosmetics.com.

Summary:
Overall, I like these color corrects very much. Mint Green and Sunflower are both great at concealing redness, but Sunflower acts as a highlighter too. Salmon reduces the appearance of under-eye circles, hiding them completely if they’re not too dark. Blue is very useful for when you overdo the self-tanner as it will get rid of the orange tones in your skin. They all are easy to blend but can be very messy too!

Rating: 3.5/5

I’ve never tried anything from Lumiere and I’m glad to read your review. My concealers are from Everyday Minerals and after they take away the kits, I am not sure I want to buy from them again. I’m glad to have another option available.

Great review! I don’t use concealers and correctors (I’ve discovered the Lancome La Base pro- makeup primer and works wonders) but I should keep in mind these 2 just in case someday I will need it:)

I haven’t tried any product from Lumiere, and that Salmon corrector is slightly darker then EDM’s. Have you tried Everyday Minerals Gio? Their Peach and Abott’s Perk Me Up corrector is pretty decent. I’m still trying to find a good concealer my dark circles as well.

Ciao Gio! First comment from me, though I’ve been a reader of your great blog for a few months! The Sunflower corrector sounds really good…I don’t have redness problems really, but my face could definitely do with a little brightening sometimes! What kind of brush did u use with this?

Dao: it’s a shame Everyday Minerals discounted their kits. This was my first time using mineral concealers and I’m very pleased with them. They are a bit messy, but good. You should try them if you can.

Tavia: thanks! I started using concealers pretty late as I wasn’t sure what they’d do or how to apply them, but now I never leave the house without one. They are really good for covering skin imperfections like pimples, redness or dark circles. But if you’re skin is pretty flawless, you don’t really need them. ;)

Dee: I haven’t tried EDM yet. The concealer sounds good but if it’s lighter than Lumiere’s I don’t think it’ll cover my dark circles completely. The only product that did that is Benefit Erase Paste, but it’s sooo thick it can be hard to blend at times so I’m still looking for a good concealer for very dark circles.

Anna: ciao and thanks for your comment. I’m glad you like the blog and hope to see you around more often :) The sunflower concealer is really good, it brightened up my skin nicely and didn’t look too fake. I used my Sephora concealer brush but any good concealer brush or small face brush with firm bristles will do.

Eru: this was my first time using mineral concealers. I usually stick to liquid or creams but I have to say these are pretty good. Who knew that mineral concealers could work so well? I didn’t find them drying at all, at least not for my combination skin.
I love testing things on my boyfriend, but he’s not very happy about it and doesn’t let me do that often. He was a bit shocked when he saw the concealer was blue, I think he was scared he would have looked like a Smurf lol. But he didn’t ;)

I always though that yellow concealer is meant to neutralize the purple bruise/under eye circle. I guess I am wrong…Anyway, I would probably never buy powder concealer because the packaging just looks like a big hassle.

P.S.On the second paragraph you might have put “From ELF’s website” by mistake.

Thanks for letting me know, Citrine, I’ve just corrected that.

And you’re right Citrine, yellow concealer can be used to cover dark circles as well, but since this brightens up the eye area too, I’m not sure it would work for everyone. If dark cirlces aren’t covered completely, highlightening that area will draw more attention to them.

These are very messy, esp if you buy the sample bags. I’d recommend the huge jar, that (and practice) would probably reduce the mess a bit.

I absolutely love color correctors! I have a bright red nose from sun damage, and I hate wearing foundation every day, so I use the green color corrector primer from MUFE and I’m good to go!

I love them too, they are so handy and useful! Doesn’t the MUFE primer leave an ashen cast if you don’t use with foundation, though? That always happen to me with green concealers/primers.
