Product Review: Max Factor Colour Perfection Duo Eyeshadow

Name: Colour Perfection Duo Eyeshadow
Brand: Max Factor
Price: €11,90
From Max Factor’s website:
Each compact contains two flattering fashion eye colours that work well together; experiment with must have neutrals or dramatic brights for a look that’s totally individual. Application is a dream thanks to an easy-blend silky texture and long lasting, no crease formulation.
What I liked:
- very shimmery
- easy to blend
- the price
What I didn’t like:
- not very pigmented
- not long-lasting
- it creases
- the packaging
I’ve usually had good experiences with Max Factor products. I love their lipsticks and concealer, so I thought I’d give their eyeshadow duos a try too even though the shades selection isn’t that great: there are only six basic color combinations available. The one I have is called Star-Studded Black and contains two shimmery shades: a pale silver and a greyish black.
The texture feels hard to the touch and is quite fallout-prone, but apart from that, the powder is easy to blend. The colors apply very sheer and they are perfect for people who want just a wash of color. As for me, I prefer more pigmented shades, so the color payoff was a disappointment.

Both shades are also very shimmery. Although the shimmers look like huge glitters in the swatch, they aren’t big or too obvious. They’re just super-shimmery, which can be too much for some people.
The shadows last about five or six hours before they start creasing but this can be avoided by using a primer which will also make the colors stay put all day.
I’m not a fan of the packaging either. It’s too basic and simple and the sponge applicator that comes with it is very small and totally useless. But then those applicators that come with eyeshadows always are.
Summary
Overall, these eyeshadows are average. The color combinations are very basic and the shades are very shimmery and easy to blend. However, they apply sheerly, crease and don’t last all day unless used with a primer.

Hello ladies,
here’s a bright look I put together using orange and purple shades. I really like how it came out. I think these colors work well together and compliment each other nicely.
Here’s the look, hope you like it:

Products Used:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Sleek Curious palette (white)
- Barry M Dazzle Dust #77 orange
- Kiko eyeshadow in Vinaccia Scuro (purple)
- Sleek Original palette (purple)
- L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion mascara
Directions:
- Apply UDPP all over lid as a base.
- Apply a white shade on the inner lid and inner lower lashline (I used the white one in Sleek Curious palette), an orange shade (I used Barry M Dazzle Dust #77 orange) on the middle lid and lower lashline and a light purple shade (I used Kiko Vinaccia Scuro) on outer lid and lower lashline. Blend where the colors meet.
- Darken the crease and the outer corner with a darker purple (I used the one in Sleek Original palette).
- Apply the white shade you previously used on the browbone to highlight.
- Finish off with mascara.

Facial Redness: Causes And Cures

Facial redness is a condition that can be caused by many factors. Sometimes the redness is just temporary, but if it never goes away, it can be a symptom of a chronic condition. Read on to find out what causes facial redness and what you can do about it:
Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes redness of the face, but can affect other parts of the body like ears, chest and neck. It can also cause sensitive skin (burning and stinging) and pimples. To treat rosacea, use products that contain anti-inflammatory ingredients like azelaic acid. Also, you should consult a dermatologist for a precise diagnosis and best treatment for your condition.
Allergic contact dermatitis
Allergic contact dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin caused by an allergic reaction to a substance (like chemicals used in cosmetics and skincare products) that has come in contact with the skin. It causes redness, itching, swelling and scaling. Consult your doctor straight away to determine what caused the allergic reaction so that you can avoid products containing the allergen in the future.
Over-exfoliation
Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells on the surface and gives your face a healthy glow. But while it is beneficial when done in moderation, exfoliating too much can be dangerous. Overexfoliation can cause redness and irritation. That’s because you scrubbed away all of the dead cells on the surface exposing the red raw skin underneath. Always exfoliate in moderation and use a gentle scrub.
Excessive Sun Exposure
Over the years, the ultraviolet radiation from the sun rays causes blood vessels to grow and spread across your face, resulting in unwanted redness. This condition can be prevented by using sunscreen everyday. To treat it, it is used a laser that makes blood vessels explode. This treatment will leave bruises on your face for a few days, but afterwards you’ll notice that redness is greatly reduced or disappeared.
Other causes
Facial redness can also be caused by several other factors: physical exercise, spicy food, hot or cold weather, alcohol and flushing. If this is the case, the redness is only temporary and will soon go away.
