   Yaay I’m featured! I want that pain au chocolat, please. Lol, shouldn’t it read “inexpensive dupe”? What’s the point of an expensive dupe, Giiiiiooooooooo!

   I need to get off (well actually, on) my arse and review the round brush, too. It’s more of the same except replace “Mac 239″ with “Mac 219″ and bang, done.

   2nd comment. I just saw the Bella Sugar thing. Ahem.

   FUCKING TWILIGHT. It’s not even GOOD. It is decent, fair, mildly entertaining despite a great many flaws, at best. There are hundreds upon thousands of books far, far, FAR more deserving of such hype than that Mormon-spouting utter garbage.

   That is all.

   Tweens: read Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series, or the first six Anita Blake books, or some Angela Knight, or Kim Harrison, or bloody Anne Rice. Twilight is Fisher-Price does Vampires, kiddie mittens firmly attached to your coats so you can’t lose them amidst the Mormon propaganda and flagrant racism.

   You deserve it Ana! I want it too, looks yummy! Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up on Sunday morning and find a nice breakfast like that waiting for you?
   Ooops, you’re right, an expensive dupe is useless lol. Thanks for telling me, I’ve corrected it.
   Yes, you should do that! I’ve been waiting for that review! But I’m not sure I wanna read it now lol. I got the MAC 219 brush a few months ago and I don’t dare think of the money I could have saved if I had bought the Gosh brushes while in London.

   Ana, I though the Twilight palettes would interest a lot of people, but personally the range doesn’t appeal to me. I’ve just started reading the books and am considering watching the movie but only because I want to understand what the hype is about. Because at the moment I don’t get it. When I first heard the storyline, I thought it was really bad, nothing new or exciting. The only thing that could have made it interesting would have been the style of writing. I think that even the most boring story can become interesting if the writer knows how to tell it. But as of yet, her writing is nothing special and I doubt it will improve.
   But unfortunately talent is not often recognised. Most things that are popular suck and those that are good, no one cares about
   I should go and get the Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse books, I’ve only heard raves about them. Those sound like books worth paying for, unlike Twilight.

   They are indeed, they are wonderful. The audiobooks are wonderful, too, they’re narrated very well, and of course the TV series based on it, True Blood is equally wonderful, although quite gory.

   I think the reason for the hype is that Meyer is the first person to realise that most schoolgirls aren’t drooling over the guy from Westlife (I am out of touch with popular culture) anymore, but they prefer dangerous, feminine looking men who will protect them and take care of them, because as much as we may protest otherwise, we’re not really feminists at all.

   I don’t find it annoying because I’m a feminist, I find it annoying because I’m a grown woman who’s extremely anti-feminist (only for me, personally, all other women may have all the rights they wish) who very much likes dangerous, dominant men who’ll take control and look after me. I’m also able to realise that Edward simply doesn’t fit the bill. All he does is pout about how bad and dangerous and VAAMPYYYYREEEE he is and doesn’t actually do anything bad. Ever. In any of the books. He practically wants to castrate himself for bruising her. Pft, wuss.

   Plus, Bella is a completely unlikable Mary-Sue (the beautiful but weak, self-esteemless-victim, who manages to enthrall everyone she meets despite her self-professed ordinariness, is the smartest person in the class, likes classic literature and music, takes care of her parents because she’s super responsible and mature, etc) who cares not a jot for anyone but herself and Edward.

   The prose says one thing, the characters another (prose: Bella is perfect in every way, Bella: has endearing low self-esteem thus is ordinary, ugly, clumsy, stupid, blahblah. Prose: Edward is a poser who never does anything bad at all and is similarly perfect at everything, except being bad, at which he is epic fail. Edward: “THIS IS THE SKIN OF A KILLER, BELLA” blah blah.)

   It all reads like a fanfic Meyer wrote with herself as Bella and Edward as her fancy man. We are each entitled to our fantasies, but we shouldn’t publish them and sell them to 12 year olds.

   I wanted to watch True Blood but if it is gory then I better stick to the books. I don’t do gory. I already have to watch Supernatural through my fingers and let’s face it, they don’t show anything horrible in it. But what can I say? I’m a huge wimp. Maybe I can try and watch True Blood snuggled up to Valerio, so I can hide behind him when they show something bloody.

   I think you may be right there. I’m not a feminist but I’m not against it either. I think women should have the same right as men but at the end of the day, what every woman wants is a man to take care of them. Not because we can’t take care of ourselves, but because it is nice to have someone that cares about you, looks after you and protects you. Not to mention that dominant men are very sexy too.

   I’m only halfway through the first book so I can’t really say too much yet. I’m usually a fast reader but I find her style of writing so poor. She writes like a 10 year old kid would. And the characters lack of depth and personality. Maybe this will change as the book goes on but I honestly doubt it. Edward and Bella are described as gorgeous and perfect but I honestly can’t decide which of the two is more annoying. Bella is spineless and doesn’t have a personality and the whole “I love you but stay away from me” is so boring! Just bite the girl and end our misery.

   I’m also tired of these vegetarian vampires. Since when do vampires have a conscience and care if people die? And what about the fact they can’t go into the sunshine because they sparkle? Is that a bad joke? And Bella actually finds that beautiful? Seriously, these vampires aren’t credible at all.

   To me Meyer’s only merit is that she made 12 year olds read. Not many people like to read these days so if Twilight managed to make them appreciate reading, that’s a good thing. As long as they move on to read much better books obviously, or it’s just useless.
