sephora concealer brush 46

Name: Concealer Brush #46
Brand: Sephora
Price: €10.50

From Sephora’s website:
Synthetic taklon fibers are non-porous and non absorptive to ensure a light application (and help your concealer last longer). Tightly packed hair and tapered edge fit contours of eyes and blemishes for complete coverage. Besides ensuring seamless concealer application, it works it’s magic with all cream products, including primer, eye cream, and cream shadow.

What I liked:
- still but soft bristles
- can be used with concealer, primer and cream eyeshadows
- tip fits into tiny areas
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- can leave streaks on face

I’ve always used my fingers to apply concealer until last summer when I finally gave in and decided to buy a concealer brush. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it so I bought Sephora Professionnel Concealer Brush #46, which is fairly cheap.

Made of synthetic fibers and orange in color, the bristles are stiff enough to deliver a good application but also very soft and don’t scratch nor irritate my face. The tip fits perfectly into grooves and tiny areas like the sides of the nose or around the eyes, distributing the concealer evenly.

The only downside is that sometimes the bristles tend to separate into groups leaving streaks on my face. That doesn’t happen often but when it does, application is a real pain!

The brush works well with both liquid and cream concealers and can also be used to apply an eye primer or cream eyeshadows. I’ve been using it for a year now and wash it very often. The bristles don’t shed and it still looks brand new.

Summary
This is not the best concealer brush on the market, but overall, it does the job ok. It applies concealer evenly and can also be used with primers and cream eyeshadows. The bristles are stiff yet soft and won’t shade, but they can leave streaks sometimes.

Rating: 3/5

Thanks for the review! I have the foundation brush. It looks exactly like it, just bigger. It was on sale for $10, high quality, but same as the concealer brush, it also leaves streaks!

You’re welcome Joanne. Thanks for your comment, I was wondering about the foundation brush, guess I’ll pass then. I usually like Sephora brushes and I think this one is good esp considerd the price, but it’s really annoying when it leaves streaks!

Oh I use this! Love it! I’m using a cream concealer by Laura Mercier and this makes it glide on smoothly :D Although I agree with you 3/5 rating – it’s good, but not THE best, if you know what I mean!

Renee, I’m glad you love it too and I know what you mean. I like the brush and I think it does a good job, but there are better ones there. Still, I’m happy with this, so I don’t think I will try a different one soon.

I’ve never tried a concealer brush. If I find I need to brush-apply it on a blemish or something I dig out a very thin eyeliner brush, like MAC 209 or the Sonia Kushwhatever eyeliner brush and dot it on.

I remember reading from a MAC Artist that the concealer brush was like, their favourite tool in the whole woooooorld. I don’t find myself needing that much concealer? Better to have the world’s best foundation brush!

I think a concealer brush is nice to have in your collection, but it’s not a necessity. Any small brush will do. I’d rather have a good foundation brush as well, but then makeup artists often say to apply concealer when needed and no foundation, unless your skin is really bad and needs it, so I understand why they prefer concealer brushes. But I’d never go out without foundation so a brush to apply that would be more useful to me.
