garnier fresh toner

Name: Fresh Invigorating Toner
Brand: Garnier
Size: 200ml
Price: €3,90

From the packaging:
Its formula removes impurities and dead skin cells that alter the complexion. It leaves skin perfectly clean and fresh.

What I liked:
- removes any trace of makeup left by cleansers
- gives skin a refreshing feeling
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- the packaging
- the scent

I don’t consider toner to be a necessary step in my skincare routine. I usually use it because I like the fresh feeling it gives, but every now and then I skip this step and I don’t see any difference in how my skin looks and feels. So, when I decide to buy a toner I just look for a cheap one that does the job ok.

Garnier Fresh toner is a basic one that does just what any regular toner does: removes any traces of makeup and other impurities that may be left on the skin after cleansing and gives skin a fresh feeling.

The toner absorbs quickly and is very gentle.  It doesn’t strip moisture off my skin and doesn’t dries it. It makes skin feel tight but doesn’t sting nor irritate it.

It is a good, although basic, toner and if it hadn’t been for the scent I probably would have repurchased it. It has a fruity, apple scent that most people find very appealing but I just can’t stand it and am finding really hard to finish the bottle because of it.

I think the packaging is pretty. It comes in a green, see-through bottle so you can see how much is left in it. However, it is difficult to control the amount of product that comes out and I usually end up pouring too much on the cotton pad.

Summary:
If you can stand the scent, this is a good and inexpensive toner that does what any toner should do. However, the packaging makes it easy to pour out more product than necessary.

Rating: 3/5

I guess it’s the distinctive scent that Garnier has. The shampoo and conditioner smell the same, too. I prefer my stuff to be scent-free or at least have mild scent.

I can never skip on toner. If I do, my skin just doesn’t feel right. I don’t think we have that toner here, but I’ve never liked the smells that Garnier skin products have. Maybe you should try Olay if you haven’t yet. Its pretty alright. :)

I have this too, but in yellow?

The packaging didn’t impress me too! :) But I can’t tell for now as I haven’t been using it yet :)

Dao: I used a couple of other Garnier products and that scents was a bit different. It was similar to this one but not so strong and apple-like. I prefer fragrance-free products too but they seem harder to find, esp if you’re on a budget.

Celeste: yes, it should! This scent is too sickening for me :(

Dee: Do you have oily skin? That skin type can really benefit from using a toner because of its astringent properties. But this products doesn’t claim to have an astringent action so I’m not sure if it works well for oily skin. I’m not too fond of Garnier’s scents but usually it’s not this strong and you can’t smell it once you apply so it doesn’t bother me that much. But this time, it’s rally bad! I’ve tried a few Olay products but never their toners. I shall try one of them once this runs out, thanks.

Nikki: the packaging, which is the same for all Garnier toners, really bother me. The opening is too big and I often end up pouring out too much! But I don’t think it’s a bad thing this time, it means I can finish this up soon so that I won’t have to smell the awful scent for long.

As I said before, I love the scent of the whole green line, but… “However, it is difficult to control the amount of product that comes out and I usually end up pouring too much on the cotton pad.”

That is SO true!

The first few (tens of) times I poured way too much, even spilled some!
(I’m using another toner besides the Garnier one, so I’m used to its bottle opening, with which there’s no spillage.)

In the winter, I love how my skin feels after this toner, but the spillage is a major problem.
(Are Garnier people reading this?)

Ana, I really hope someone at Garnier is listening to this because I tried a few of their toners and they all have the same problem: the opening is too big and too much product is poured out! It’s such a waste!
