nyx ultra pearl mania 01

Name: Ultra Pearl Mania
Brand: NYX
Size: 0.06fl.oz/5ml
Price: $2.00

From NYX’s website:
Loose Pearl Eyeshadow lets you sweep on intense colors in one easy application.

What I liked:
- lots of beautiful shades to choose from
- pigmented
- longlasting
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- the packaging

I love pigments: they are multi-purpose, long lasting and have amazing color payoff. I have quite a few of them and I use them almost daily. After hearing so many good things about NYX pigments I couldn’t resist, I had to try them.

These loose shadows are available in 30 beautiful shades. I have Lime, a nice sheer, shimmery green. Despite Lime being a sheer shade it is pretty pigmented.

The powder is fine and easy to blend, although a bit powdery which can make application messy. For this reason, it’s better to use this with a sticky primer to make the color adhere better to the lid. The primer will also make the color last all day.

Despite the fact that I love this pigment I’m not sure I’m gonna get more of these because I hate the packaging. I don’t mind that the jar is pretty small, after all, who can finish a whole jar of MAC pigment? And for $2.00 you still get lots of product.

But what I can’t stand is that the opening is so small you can’t get a brush in there and I have yet to figure out how to get the powder out without pouring out too much and making a mess! This is really annoying me and I’m thinking of buying a bigger jar and transfer the product in there.

The pigments cost $2.00, but you can buy them for $1.35 on the Makeup Mix Shop, which is where I got mine. At the moment they are also on sale on Cherry Culture at $1.50 each.

Summary:
Overall, I love this pigment. The shade is beautiful, the color payoff great and it lasts all day. Not too mention that it’s so cheap! However, it is a bit powdery and the jar makes it difficult to get the powder out.

Rating: 4/5

I really love these pigments! When I bought them, they were a dollar a bullet but now at the current price, they’re still a steal. A vial has 1 gram of pigments and a jar of MAC has about 3-3.5 grams. NYX pigments are really cheap!

i tried the silver years ago and i hated it! not because of the colour nor the texture. it’s a fine product trapped in a crap packaging. it’s combersome and easily spilt. I have never tried any more of these since.

Dao: wow, just one dollar?! Too bad the price went up but they are still very affordable. And a much better deal than MAC pigments, they’re so expensive and you never get to finish them. I just wish they changed the packaging, I hate this tube!

Jojoba: I know what you mean. Part of me wants to get more of these as they are really good but I hate the packaging! It isn’t practical at all and when I try to get the product out I either get very very little or way too much grrr I don’t use this color a lot because of that, it’s very frustrating.

Hm, at that price, you could also get a bunch of sifter jars from like Coastal Scents and decant them?

I like Nyx for variety, but when doing I look I usually opt for my MAC or somesuch anyway. It’s good to have expensive/whatever key colours I suppose, but very beneficial to have cheaper ones to fill the gaps in your spectrum. I have over 30 Nyx lipsticks to date, and adore their eyeshadow trios.

Hey Gio you just reminded me of these! :D I have nearly the whole set from a lovely friend a while ago. Packaging sucks big time but the product isn’t bad for the price. I didn’t decant them though its easy to if you can get empty jars :)

Anastasia: I think that’s probably what I’ll end up doing, I’m just not too happy about it though.
I think it’s nice to have variety too. I usually buy cheap eyeshadows and get more expensive products like MAC when they release some really unique colors.
Those NYX lipsticks are next on my list, I’m really curious to try more from this brand.

Paris B: that was very nice of your friend! Like you, I think the quality is really good, esp considered the price, but the packaging is really really bad!

Ahleessa: the quality is really good but if you get these make sure you get some empty jars as well, you’ll need them!

oh yes! The packaging is so annoying! I have a couple of colors too and I don’t use them enough for this very reason >.< But they're very good quality nonetheless

I agree with you about the packaging. I had 3 but swapped them away because I just didn’t like them enough to decant them. Maybe you can try pressing them?

Connie: I don’t use mine often because of that too, which is a shame as the pigment is great.

Blu3: I though of swapping it too but I like the color and I don’t have a similar one in my collection. I rarely use it because of the annoying packaging though. Pressing it could be a good idea, thanks :)
