TBS coconut body butter 02

The skin of my body is very dry and, esp now that summer is almost here and we wear thinner clothes and show a bit more flesh, I need a cream that keeps my skin hydrated and dissipates dry patches.

I tried many moisturizers over the years, but they never worked well for me and after a few hours my skin had dry patches again. Not with the body butters from the BTS. From the first time I used them, I noticed a great difference in how my skin feels and looks.

The Body Shop has a wide range of body butters formulated for all skin types. At the moment, I’m using the coconut one, which is formulated for people with normal to dry skin. The product comes in a big, dark brown jar with the picture of coconuts on the lid.

The body butter is pale cream in color and has a rich, thick consistency. Because of that, you only need to apply just a little bit and the product will last for ages. It melts on the skin and doesn’t leave any greasy residue.

It contains Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, which is an extract derived from coconut and Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter), derived from the karite tree. Both ingredients are considered to be good emollients. It also contains Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) which forms a barrier on the skin, slowing water loss. In addition, it temporarily protects exposed skin from harmful stimuli.

These ingredients moisturize skin, leaving it very soft, supple and hydrated for the entire day (and night)! And I can still smell the t scent the next morning.

I usually prefer fragrance-free products, but this one has a strong, although not overpowering, and delicious coconut smell. So delicious, in fact, that my boyfriend tried to bite me when he smelled it! lol I guess he liked the scent too! However, not everyone likes the smell of coconut. If you don’t, then you should try one of the many others body butters available instead.

Summary:
Overall, I really love the coconut body butter. It works wonders for my very dry skin and leaves it soft, hydrated and smelling gorgeous for the entire day. It is pricey but the jar is quite big and you only need a very small amount, so it will last for ages.

Rating: 5/5

I love the Body Shop butters – shea butter is my favourite. It has a wonderful smell. Vaseline have brought out a cocoa butter that is also very good and slightly cheaper than the Body Shop products.

Nic nic: glad she loves it too and I can see why, its’ amazing!

Nikki: lol, the coconut is one of my faves as it works very for very dry skin.

charlene: lol, it really smells great, very yummy!

prettybeautiful: those are great too! If you very dry skin, like me, I really recommended the coconut one. It works great to relive dryiness. But I love all the other flavours too.

Kay: shea butter is another one of my faves, that works so well for dry skin too. I haven’t tried the Vaseline one yet, but sounds great!

Everyone PLEASE read the ingredients. The Body Shop NEVER stopped using animal products, which is why they were forced by court order to use the phrase “Against Animal Testing”. Anita Roddick AND her husband were kicked from the company in 2002 or so for being cooks, Anitarmaining on as “Consultant” and the face of body shop. The company is CLOSING DOWN COMPLETELY BY THE END OF 2009, THIS HAS NOT HIT THE NEWS COMPLETELY, BUT THEIR OWN INEPTITUDE HAS CAUSE THEIR OWN DEMISE. BETTER TO WAIT FOR THE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALES.

The Coconut body butter from The Body Shop has true coconut scent, that’s why it is so delectable. I personally find their products too perfumey for my nose but those who use them really like them.

Loretta J: I’ve read the ingredient list and I don’t have a problem with any of the ingredients. Some of their products use animal products like beeswax, but unless you have a negative reaction to that, I don’t see why you should stop using the product.
I really hope TBS won’t close down, it’s always sad when a company goes out of business.

Dao: the scent is quite strong and I usually dislike that in beauty and skincare product. But I have to admit I’m pretty fond of this one, it is very yummy and reminds you of a tropical island.

my_makeup_mania: it really is!

I bought this product because of the review, and I must say i love it. Like you said, it smells delicious, and it’s so rich that i feel like i’ll never get dry skin with this. Have you ever tried to put leave it in the fridge and then put it on after a shower? It feels wonderful.

ToTheSunnySide, I’m so glad you love it too. It’s fantastic and so moisturizing, isn’t it? When my skin is seriously dry this is the only thing that’ll fix it. No, I’ve never tried that, but it sounds so good and refreshing, I’ll definitely do it. Thanks for the tip. :)
