- the packaging
- has SPF, although doesn’t offer broad spectrum protection
- the scent
What I didn’t like:
- the price
I’m not a lipstick person. I prefer lipgloss: just one swipe and I’m good to go. But I absolutely love Lancome lipsticks. Not so much their price though. So, when a few months ago, I spotted an edition of Marie Claire that came with a sample of Lancome L’Absolu Rouge lipstick, I just had to buy it.
L’Absolu Rouge is available in 32 shades. I have #132 Caprice (I don’t know the equivalent name in the USA, sorry!), a bold and vibrant shade of red. The color is very pigmented and the texture is creamy, rich and moisturizing. One of the main emollient ingredients is Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, which is high in essential fatty acids. It penetrates, hydrates and protects skin.
The lipstick also contains Octinoxate (Octyl Methoxycinnamate), which is a sunscreen agent that protects against UVB but not UVA rays. Therefore, you should apply a broad spectrum sunscreen to your lips prior to this. The staying power is good for a lipstick. It lasts for a few hours if you don’t eat nor drink. But when I had a quick snack, the color was still there, albeit faint. And the scent is gorgeous too!
I really like the packaging. The simple black container is very classic and sleek. In addition, the lid has a slight magnetic pull so it stays on safely.
Summary:
Overall, I really like this lipstick. It comes in a lot of beautiful shades, is pigmented and moisturizes lips. It smells really nice and the packaging is very pretty. However, even though it contains SPF, the protection is not broad spectrum, and the price is very expensive.
Rating: 4/5

the price is really ouch! i am not a lippie person too, prefer lip gloss at all times
prettybeautiful, yeah the price is very steep, but if you can afford it, it’s worth it. The lipstick is amazing! But I prefer the look and shine of a lipgloss anytime.
