Name: Pure Deep Clean Foaming Wash
Brand: Garnier
Size: 200ml
Price: €6.50

From Garnier’s website:
Its anti-bacterial formula contains purifying agents with mineral zinc, renowned for their sebum regulating properties, creating a dual action:
1. Clean: it exfoliates and cleanses pores. Your skin is perfectly cleansed and purified.
2. Clear: helps clear excess sebum from the pores and clarifies the complexion.

What I liked:
- cleans and exfoliates
- skin looks clearer but tight
- imperfections and breakouts were visibly reduced
- the packaging
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- drying
- the scent

I started using Garnier Pure Deep Clean Foaming Wash a few months ago after a Nivea cleanser made me breakout horribly. I’m sure it was that cleanser as it was the only new product I had introduced in my skincare routine. So, I was on the lookout for a new cleanser and since this one claims to fight imperfections, clean and purify pores, I thought I’d give it a try.

The gel is transparent and dense with a fresh cucumber scent that vanishes pretty quickly. It comes in a blue and see-through flacon, so you can see how much product is left in it. The pump allows you to get just the right amount of product you need and avoid wastes. As any foaming wash, first you need to moist your face, then apply the product with a massage, esp concentrating on your t-zone, so it will foam and rinse off with lukewarm water.
This facial wash not only deeply cleanses, but it also exfoliates, leaving my skin softer and brighter but feeling tight. I noticed that my skin looked better and clearer already after the first time I used it. And it also does a great job in keeping blemishes and spots away.

While the product works really well for people with oily skin, it is not recommended for those with dry or sensitive skin, as stated on the packaging. In fact, some of the ingredients may be too harsh for sensitive skin and the exfoliating action of the product may have a drying effect. I have combination skin and while I really saw great results on my oily t-zone, I stopped using this on my cheeks as it dried them. But even if your skin is oily, because the product also exfoliates, you still need to use a good moisturizer after this to avoid over-drying your skin.

The product contains coco-betaine, an ingredients derived from coconut, that acts as a foaming agent and surfactant, gently cleaning the skin by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed off. In addition, its ph range has mild germicidal properties and also helps reduce irritation that could be caused by other cleansing agents present in the product. Other gentle cleansing ingredients contained in the product are Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is considered very effective, and disodium cocoamphodiacetate.

Salicylic acid is another multifunctional ingredient. It penetrates inside the pores, exfoliating inside them as well as the surface of the skin, which effectively reduces blemishes. In addition, it has anti-irritant and antimicrobial properties that help treat breakouts. Another ingredients worth noting is Zinc PCA, which regulates sebaceous glands so that sebum production is controlled.

Summary:
Overall, I think this is a really good facial wash for people with oily, or even combination skin. It effectively cleanses and exfoliates, leaving skin clear, smooth and brighter but feeling tight. It also effectively reduces blemishes and spots. However, it can be drying and is therefore not recommended for people with dry or sensitive skin.

Rating: 4/5

I don’t think we have it here in the U.S but usually, Garnier skin care products do not have such high praises as others. Right now I’m happy with my face wash but I’ll take notes on this one just in case :)

This is one of the best reviews I’ve ever read, even though I am not interested in the products. I love that you don’t just say, “It works! It costs this much! It smelled bad!” I enjoyed the breakdown of the ingredients used and how they are effective, as well as the usual review stuff. I feel like this was a very balanced and useful review, unlike many biased ones out there. Thanks for doing this!

Nikki: you’re welcome. I was curious about the eye roller, but most of the reviews I’ve read are negative so I’m not sure I should bother with it.

Dao: to be honest, I was a bit hesitant to purchase this since not many people seem to like Granier products that much, but I’m happy I did. It worked really well for my skin. It definitely wouldn’t work for all skin types and it’s not HG material, but overall, it is a really good and inexpesive facial wash for people with oily skin.

Danielle: you’re welcome and thank you very much. I think it is important to talk about ingredients when writing a review, esp about skincare products. Everyone’s skin is different and what works for me may not work for someone else. Knowing what ingredient are used, what they do and if they have side effects is the best way to buy the best products for your skin.

Anastacia: thanks, it really is a good face wash.

Lydia: you’re welcome :)

Stavroula, you’re welcome. I’m sure you’ll like this cleanser. I don’t user toners since they don’t really work for me but this sounds great. I might give it a try and see if, unlike the others, this works its magic on me too. :)

I use it on my face (except for the dry parts) just before going in the shower, because it’s drying, so I don’t let it on for long! it “burns” my pimples and makes them disappear faster! ;)
