Name: Diorshow Iconic
Brand: Dior
Size: 10ml
Price: €26

From Dior’s website:
The new Diorshow Iconic mascara is definitely innovative, offering a spectacular lash curling effect. The incredibly soft elastomer brush features slanted bristles to capture each lash one by one. In one quick stroke, with no special application method necessary, the brush acts like a brushing on lashes.Enriched with a unique lifting formula, Diorshow Iconic sculpts, stretches and curves the lashes with extreme hold and high definition.

What I liked:
- lenghtens, defines and separates lashes but still manages to look natural
- doesn’t smudge
- doesn’t clump
- long-lasting
- the packaging

What I didn’t like:
- doesn’t curl
- hard to remove
- the price

I’ve been wanting to try Diorshow Iconic for a long time, but the price tag was putting me off. After all,  €26 for a mascara is a lot, what if it doesn’t deliver what it promises? So, when I went to the newsagents and found a magazine that came with a sample of Iconic I just had to buy it!

The mascara comes in a pretty silver tube with the Dior logo embossed all over it. The brush has bristles that are closed together and slanted to grab every single lash (even the little inner ones). Just like Chanel Exceptionnel, you need to twirl the brush as you apply the mascara.

The formula is  quite light. A couple of coats will give your lashes amazing lenght, definition and separation, but unlike Exceptionnel, it doesn’t give  that false lashes look. Instead it looks very natural. But you need to be careful or your lashes will look spidery, which isn’t good. I have to say that I have mixed feelings about this mascara. While I like the natural looking effect this provides, what I want from a mascara is that dramatic, wow look and this just don’t achieve that. But if you have naturally long-lashes or want great lenght with a natural appearance, this is the perfect mascara for you. And it doesn’t clump at all!

It doesn’t really curl my lashes like it was supposed to do, but it held the curl from my curler all day. And the staying power is amazing too. I’ve worn the mascara for the entire day and didn’t experience any smudges or flakes. It is a bit hard to remove, though.

Summary:
Overall, Diorshow Iconic is a really good mascara. It separates, defines and lenghten lashes but still manages to look natural. It doesn’t clump, flake nor smudge and it lasts all day. However, it doesn’t curl lashes, is hard to remove and is expensive.

Rating: 4/5

I’m starting to find that drugstore mascaras are just as good as these expensive ones. Thanks for the review.

Me too. I agree with you. The only high-end mascaras I own are either samples or wins. I’d rather spend my money on drugstore mascaras, they’re cheaper and work just as well, if not better sometimes.

wow hard to remove… reminds me of my shiseido lasting lift. but it can be removed by coconut oil. the not curling part scares me as i have down casted straight lashes. hmmm

great review and i think i just decided passing this!

jojoba: I didn’t try removing it with coconut oil yet but I’m sure that will do the trick easily. Oil-based makeup remover are best for removing this kind of mascara and coconut oil is definitely great at removing eye makeup and provides some conditioning too.
I was actually disappointed about it not curling my lashes. I didn’t have great expections about that as usually mascaras only curl lashes a bit, but this didn’t do anything at all!

prettybeautiful: I was expecting something better after hearing all the hype about it too. It’s a great mascara for when you want a natural look but honestly I expect a lot more for that price.

Eru: thank you so much hun! I’m honoured. I’ll go and check it out now.

Thanks for this review!
I love reading mascara reviews and testing them. ;)

So, I couldn’t resist this one too, but after several times, I handed it to my sister, since it doesn’t hold the curl of my lashes (have poker straight Asian lashes).

Still love the packaging a lot!

Cheers!
Jess

Hi Jess, you’re welcome. The packaging is beautiful but it’s too bad that it doesn’t curl. Although no mascara can curl lashes as well as an eyelash curler, I still think it is important for it to have at least a slight curling effect. My lashes are pretty straight and this doesn’t help at all, so I rarely use this. But overall, it is a good mascara and I hope you sister is enjoying it!
