Name: Pearlescent Primer
Brand: Bottega Verde
Size: 30ml
Price: €11,99
From the packaging:
It has emollient and hydrating properties and gives a luminous and smooth appearance to your face, reducing small imperfections.
What I liked:
- gives face a glowy look
- helps hiding imperfection, but the coverage is light
- the price
What I didn’t like:
- doesn’t make makeup last longer
- the fragrance
- ingredients
Bottega Verde Pearlescent Primer has a creamy consistency and is a beige-pinkish color with shimmers in it that is perfect for every skintone. It is easy to apply and absorbs quickly. It helps to even out the skintone and reduce imperfections, but the coverage is quite light so you still need to use concealer and foundation as well to hide them completely.
It doesn’t make my makeup last longer but then the products doesn’t claim to do that, so I wasn’t too disappointed. What it claims, instead, is to give your face a glowy look and that’s exactly what it delivers. It can be used all over your face before foundation, you can mix it with a moisturizer or you can use it as an highlighter. But be careful, not to apply too much or you’ll end up look too bright!
If you like fragrance in cosmetics, this has a very pleasant smell. And the price is really cheap too. It retails at €11,99 but BV often has sales and discounts, so it’s easy to find it at €2,99 or even less!
Bottega Verde claims to be a nature-friendly brand, but they still use lots of chemicals in their products. The active ingredients are silicones to smooth the skin and mica to give a glowing appearance. In addition, it also contains Imidazolidinyl Urea, which as mentioned in a previous post, is a formaldehyde releasing preservative.
Summary:
Overall, the product does what it claims. It gives skin a dewy appearance and helps reducing imperfections, although the coverage is very light. However, for a product that claims to be nature-friendly, it contains lots of chemicals like silicones and parabens and Imidazolidinyl Urea, a preservative that releases formaldehyde, which is toxic and carcinogenic.

I never heard of this, but maybe it’s a good thing since the rating isn’t that great… hehe~
Bottega Verde is an Italian brand, it’s not very known in other countries. Their products are very hit and miss and this one is just average. But the brand claims to be organic and nature friendly when it’s actually using dangerous preservatives. I wouldn’t really recommend any products containing formaldheyde releasing ingredients as that stuff’s nasty, esp when there are lots of primers out there that work much better and don’t pose any health risks.
