Name: Purifying Mud Face Mask with Olive and Wheat Extracts
Brand: Bottega Verde
Size: 50ml
Price: €10,49

From the packaging:
New facial beauty care to indulge in once or twice a week. A normalizing, purifying and age-defying face mask. Based on mud rich in mineral salts, which stimulate circulation and help to remove toxins.

What I liked:
- gives skin a glowy appearance
- leaves skin soft and clean
- doesn’t dry nor irritate skin
- natural ingredients
- the packaging

What I didn’t like:
- when the mask is on your face, skin feels tight
- the scent

The mask is a dark brown/grayish color, has quite a creamy consistency and goes on smoothly. The instructions say to apply a generous amount on your face, avoiding the eye and lip area, wait about 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. I use it once a week. When the mask is on my face, it makes my skin feel tight, but once I wash it off, I noticed that my skin was clean, very soft and glowy. It doesn’t irritate nor dry the skin. I’m not sure about the anti-aging properties though, but then I am still quite young.

I’ve blogged before about Bottega Verde claiming to be a nature-friendly brand, even though it uses chemicals, silicones, parabens and other ingredients that aren’t natural at all. However, this mask is part of their bio-ecologic line that only uses natural oils and extracts. These products have been certified by AIAB (Italian Assosiacition of Biologic Agriculture) and ICEA (Instute of Certification of Enviroment Ethics), so you can be sure that all the ingredients used in the mask come from bioecologic agriculture and spontaneous growing.

That’s why I was surprised to see parfum listed as an ingredient. I just hope that was made with natural ingredients as well. The scent is quite strong and personally, it’s not very pleasant for me. However, I can barely smell it when the mask is on my face, so it doesn’t really bother me.

Both the box and the tube are white with some blue and green flower pattern, which I think is very pretty. In addition, the packaging is made with materials that can be recycled.

Summary:
Overall, I really love this mask. It feels tight when it’s on my face, but once I rinse it off, my face is glowy and so soft! The ingredients are all natural and the packaging can be recycled.

Rating: 4/5

The standard for certification of organic products is really strange: I’ve seen products with parabens, sulfates, etc to be certified organic. If you ask the certifiers, each of them will give you a different definition of an organic product. It will take some time for them to have a concrete standard.

As far as I know, any product that contain at least 90% of organic ingredients can be marketed as organic, but companies can say products are made with organic ingredients if at least 70% of ingredients used are organic. At least that’s true in the USA, every country seems to have their own standards to determine whether a product is organic or not. They should definitely have a clearer standard and only label as organic products that are %100 organic.

The color is pretty funny, hehehe.
I love nature-friendly products, thanks for a great review! I’ll see if I can get some bottega verde anywhere here.
