Know Your Ingredients: Lanolin

What it is
Lanolin is a thick, greasy yellow substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of sheep.

What it does
Lanolin is an emollient. It moisturizes, softens and smooths skin, hair and nails. It also prevents water loss from skin and hair and may possibly retard the fine wrinkles of aging.
Lanolin also has helps to form emulsions.

Side effects
Lanolin is comedogenic.
It can also cause allergies and is a sensitizing agent.

I’m allergic to it! They slap it in suntan lotions and self-tanning stuff and it brings me out in a rash all over. Horrible lanolin >:
