From the packaging:
If your hair tends to become oily and dirty rapidly and you want it clean and visibly healthy Pantene Pro-V Purifying Shampoo is perfect for you. His special formulation cleanses hair from root to tip, removing oil and build-up styling products residues.
What I liked:
- cleans hair very well removing all oil and build-up styling residues
- the scent
- the packaging
What I didn’t like:
- can be drying if used too often
I have very oily hair. I wash it and the next day it looks so greasy and dirty, it’s disgusting. Lately, my hair also felt a bit weighted down because of styling products residues. My hair needed a good cleanse and this shampoo promises just that, so I was very curious to try it and see how well it works.
The shampoo is clear and its consistency is quite thick. You only need a small amount of product, which rapidly produces a lot of lather. I’ve never seen such a huge amount of lather piled up on my head! It is very easy to rinse off, although that takes slightly longer to do than it does with other shampoos because of the excess lather. But once the shampoo is rinsed away, hair feels really clean, lighter and smoother. It effectively removes all oil and build-up styling products residues! But what I love the most is that it makes my hair stay clean for 2/3 days before it needs to be washed again and that is a lot, if you have oily hair.
However, being a clarifying shampoo, it contains higher concentrations of cleansing ingredients that can strip away hair’s natural moisture. This product contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which are both very good cleansing agents and produces a lot of foam fast, but they can also dry your hair. This shampoo is therefore NOT gentle enough for everyday use. I use this about once a week, but if you have dry or normal hair, then once every couple of weeks would probably work better for you. For the same reason, you also need to use a conditioner after the shampoo.
The product has a subtle and lovely scent that lasts all day. The container is sleek and clear, which I love as you can see how much product is still left in the packaging after every use.
Summary:
Overall, I really love this shampoo. It has a lovely smell, lathers up well and is very effective at cleansing and removing dirt, oil and styling products residue from my hair, leaving it clean for a few days. Be careful not to use it often though and always apply conditioner afterwards, or you’ll risk drying out your hair.

yes I know what you mean, Pantene products are hit and miss for me! There are days it work and there are some days it’s super drying!
I’m not a big fan of Pantene because I gather they put craploads of silicone into their shampoos just to coat your hair in plastic.
For me, I can’t beat my TIGI Bedhead stuff, it makes my hair so silky, I have to rough it up a bit with hairspray.
Nikki: Pantene products are the same for me. They either work really good for me or don’t work at all. I’m glad this one is great though. But it’s so full of cleansing agents it could seriously dry out your hair if you’re not careful.
Anastasia: I’m not a fan of Pantene either, most of their products don’t work for me. They leave my hair stiff and tangled! Not too mention the next day my hair is so greasy again! Lots of companies put silicones in their shampoos unfortunately, but this one doesnt. It actually doesn’t have any conditioning agents, that’s why you need to use a conditioner with it or your hair could get overly.dry.
