What it is:
Butyl Acetate is the ester of n-butyl alcohol and acetic acid. It is a clear liquid with a fruity odor.

What it does:
Butyl Acetate is used as a solvent in nail care products. Among other substances, it dissolves nitrocellulose, which is the basic film-forming material in nail polish.

Side effects:
Butyl Acetate is a mild skin irritant.

Lydia: yes, Butyl Acetate is very used in polish remover products, as it is a good solvent.
