Product Review: L’Oreal Gentle Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips

Posted by beautifulwithbrains | October 13, 2008 .

Name: Gentle Makeup Remover for Eyes & Lips
Brand: L’Oreal
Size: 125ml
Price: 4,48€

From the packaging:
- The dark layer, rich in delicate oils, effectively removes waterproof and long-lasting makeup.
- The light layer is a very delicate lotion that gives a pleasant feeling of freshness.

What I liked:
- the price
- removes makeup effectively and easily

What I didn’t like:
- it did sting my eyes

I have very sensitive eyes so I need a gentle product to remove my makeup. For years, I used the Nivea gentle eye makeup remover, mainly because it is very cheap and I don’t feel like spending lots of money for a makeup remover. The Nivea one never irritated my eyes although it takes ages to remove my makeup, esp. waterproof mascara so I decided to try something else. L’Oreal Gentle Makeup Remover for Eyes and Lips is only €4,48 so I thought I’d give it a try.

This remover is bilayer. The top layer is blue and contains oils that remove your makeup while the bottom layer is clear and is a refreshing lotion. You need to shake the product until you get a homogeneous color before using it. It removes all my makeup very quickly, even waterproof mascara and red lipstick! Unfortunately I didn’t find this remover to be very gentle and it did sting my eyes a bit.

Summary:
This product removes waterproof, long-lasting makeup quickly and effectively. Unfortunately it isn’t very gentle and it stung my eyes.

Rating: 3/5

I’ve tried this before and I didn’t quite like it either. Maybelline has a similar one and that worked a lot better

We don’t have that product here in the U.S but L’Oreal has the best makeup remover in the drugstore. Usually, I add some oil to my makeup remover and it works as well.

I can vouch that it does sting the eye a bit, but this is the most affordable and cheapest eye and lip make up remover that works. Aside from Maybelline though who’s from the same company :) The next that everyone raves and says it works is Lancome Bifacil, I have to try it to see to believe :D

ouch! stung the eyes? LOL i use equate make up removing wipes! Cheapest thing there is and it works. Plus i’m lazy and wouldn’t wash my make up off, so I just swipe and I’m done! LOL what a bum

Connie: I had great expectations about this, it’s a shame it’s irritating. I haven’t seen the Maybelline one here but I’ll keep an eye out for it, I’m curious to try that as well.

Dao: I had heard great things about L’Oreal makeup removers so I was very disappointed this one irritated my eyes. It would be a great product otherwise. And thanks for the tip.

Nikki: I was really disappointed that it stung my eyes because it works very well, removing makeup was so easy. I heard raves about Lancome’s one too but the price is putting me off. I might have to try it now though.

Jessica: I haven’t used makeup wipes in ages! I should probably start using them again, they are so handy and cheap.

Sab: lucky you. You probably have less delicate eyes than I do.
