From Rimmel’s website:
Revive skin with an instant and continuous cooling sensation. Refreshing aquacool formula fights the signs of heat and humidity to prevent shine breakthrough. A perfectly matte, pure complexion for 16 hours. Colour-fresh Coverage. Air-light soufflé texture blends easily onto skin for even, flawless, true-colour coverage. Skin-loving formula infused with purified water feels fresh and stays put all day long.
What I liked:
- leaves skin feeling smooth
- keeps face relatively shine free
What I didn’t like:
- not many shades available
- made me look orangey
- doesn’t cover redness and blemishes
- the packaging
Rimmel Cool Matte 16hr Mousse Foundation is available in only 5 shades, so not everyone will be able to find their match. I got the lightest shade but it was too dark for me and made me look a bit orange! Not very nice! I wasn’t very impressed by the coverage either and it certainly doesn’t leave your face flawless like it claims. I’d say it has a light to medium coverage and it doesn’t cover redness or blemishes.
The product feels a bit dry when it goes on so you need to blend it very quickly. However, it doesn’t dry the skin and leaves it feeling smooth. Also, a little goes a long way, so it should last a long time. The product claims to last for 16hr but I haven’t worn it that long. However, it lasted about 8/9 hours before it needed touch-ups. I really liked that it left my face relatively shine free. With most foundations, my face gets shiny after a couple of hours, bu that didn’t happen this time.
The packaging is quite bulky and the glass is pretty thick. I also find it a bit clunky to carry in my bag.
If, unlike me, you like fragrance in cosmetics, then this has a nice, light scent.
Summary:
Overall, I didn’t like this foundation very much. I loved the fact that it left my face shine free for hours, but the coverage is quite light. Also, there aren’t many shades available. Very fair-skinned people should avoid this as it might make them look orangey.

Oh, I tried this foundation and I didn’t like it either. It dried extremelly fast so blending was a nightmare! Not to mention the shades… too orange and dark. Uhm (Ò.Ó)
Obviously they’re trying to compete with Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse Foundation, but failed miserably.
Having said that, I tried their foundation (it’s won Cosmo Readers’ Kiss award for “Ultimate Foundation” 5 years running) and I didn’t like it. It looks nice in the pictures I took, but looking at it in a mirror I didn’t like it – too shiny, not matte at all compared to my normal foundation, and it didn’t cover my blotchy pink cheeks! Their blusher was great, though…
Eru: I agree, this foundation isn’t very good at all. You need to be very quick it to blend it and makes you look orange.
I was gonna leave a comment in your blog but I got an error message. I’m glad your bunnychan is better
Anastasia: I can’t believe this won an awards for 5 years running! It’s not a very good product and doesn’t give you much coverage.
yeah, its quite thin and i wouldnt call it mousse either. it more liquidy. it smells great and wil prob use it as like a liquid blusher when i have less blemishes.
wont be buying again though. will stik to maybelline matte mousse.
Ange, I agree, it doesn’t really have the consistency of a mousse and I wasn’t that impressed by its performance either.
