From Urban Decay’s website:
The genie in this bottle fulfills three wishes: eyeshadow that lasts, more vibrant and lasting color, and absolutely NO creasing. Apply Primer Potion to lids before shadow application. It dries down almost instantly (and invisibly), creating smooth lids that are super powered eyeshadow magnets.
What I liked:
- makes eyeshadow last all day
- doesn’t crease
- makes eyeshadow looks more vibrant
What I didn’t like:
- the packaging
Have you ever found a beauty product that has changed your life? Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion did that for me and has now become one of my HG products. For years, I used foundation as a base and my eyeshadow would disappear after a few hours. Most of the time, it would crease too. So, I decided to look for a good eyeshadow primer. I heard so many good reviews about UDPP, I just had to try it.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion claims to make eyeshadow more vibrant and last all day without creasing. Well, this products really does what it claims. It brightened up my eyeshadow and didn’t crease at all. And my eyeshadow lasts all day. I put it on in the morning and it is still there at the end of the day. Even if I rub my eyes during the day, the shadow wouldn’t smudge or rub off.
The primer is nude-coloured and has a creamy consistency. It dries very quickly, goes on smoothly and blends very well. It doesn’t feel cakey or heavy on the lids, in fact I feel like I’m not wearing it. You can use the wand applicator to apply it but I prefer to put a bit of product on my lid and then blend with my finger. I find this works best for me.
The only thing I don’t like about this product is the packaging. Although the genie-shaped bottle is very pretty, I think you all know by know that because the wand can go only straight down into the tube, a lot of product is still left in it when you think there isn’t any left. You need to cut it open to get the remaining product left in it.
The formula is full of silicones, which helps the eyeshadow adhere to the lid and gives a smooth and silky finish to skin.
Summary:
I love this product! It makes my eyeshadow last all day, look more vibrant and doesn’t crease. Unfortunately the packaging is done in a way that you need to cut open the tube to get the big amount of product still left over when you think it’s finished. I hope they will change it soon. Hadn’t it been for that, the product would have got full marks.

oh yeah.. the packaging sucks! but this product is sooo good i don’t mind getting it online and have to pay ridiculous shipping! haha!
I love UDPP. Without it, I wouldn’t be wearing eyeshadows because I’ll crease like you wouldn’t believe! I have the most oiliest eyelids alive and it’s noticeable even without wearing eye makeup. :/
Sab: I agree. I have to get this online too and shipping is not cheap but I don’t care. I don’t usually like to spend too much on makeup but I think there are some products worth investing in like a great primer like this.
Alyssa: I love UDPP too and I’m glad it works so well for you as well.
I’ve been raving about this, too, ever since I tried it in House of Fraser and bought a bottle.
Amazing stuff. People don’t believe the results when I test eyeshadow swatches with this, I can use it and then do my eyeshadow at night, and it’s still perfect the next day!
The packaging is very weird, though, and makes it hard to get all the product out.
You should definitely try making your own mixing medium, too, that’s great at making eyeshadow (particularly loose) stay stuck to your lids.
I love this to bits too!
Anastasia: This stuff is really amazing! I honestly couldn’t believe it was that good until I tried it myself. I hate the packaging and I dread the moment when I’ll have to cut it open. Luckily, my boyfriend said he’s gonna do that for me, I’ll probably cut myself if I tried! lol. I’ce ben thinking about making mixing medium as well but, for some reason, I haven’t got around to it yet.
Nikki: yay! Another UDPP lover!
Go on, make mixing medium! It’ll totally revolutionise the way you think about loose powder eyeshadows, I swear. Do eeeeeeeeet!
I think I’ll probably will at some point. I just keep forgetting. That’s very bad, I know!
