Mona, you're welcome. If you're in a rush, then getting a lighter shade of foundation is best. Primers are useful but that's just an extra step that's not always necessary.

And thank you, you're too kind. I've been thinking of starting a channel on youtube for a while but I have no idea how to make videos. But I plan to start learning that soon. ;)

I think i'll go for a-shade-lighter solution ... I'm always getting ready in a rush so it will be a huge help.

Mona, thanks, I'm glad you like the blog.

From what you're describing, it seems to me that your foundation oxidises. That means that the pigments in the fondation react with the oils in your skin causing the color to get darker. For some people, applying a face primer solves the problem as by creating a barrier between the foundation and the skin, the color shouldn't oxidize. It doesn't work for everyone though so if a primer doesn't work for you, you'll just have to buy a foundation that's a shade lighter so that when it oxidise, it'll match you perfectly. Hope this helps.

Hi there. Wonderful blog! :D
Really wanted to ask you one question:
I am Asian but have a relatively fairer complexion than the classical Asian olive/dark skin. When buying founation, I bought one which was for medium skin tone (not too light, neither too dark). I've been using it mixed with my moisturizer for a sheer effect and then i seal it off with with a sheer translucent powder.
Here is the dilemma: my skin is appearing darker after putting on makeup! I've noticed it visibly in the mirror, in photgraphs. Without the foundation (or simply with translucent powder on), I have a lighter skin tone. But ever since using this foundation, I appear to have darkened! I could've sworn this is exactly my complexion shade though.
Should i go for a lighter foundation or is there something else that i'm doing wrong here?
please help!

Louise, I'm sorry you're having such a hard time finding a foundation that works for you. Have you tried pure mineral foundations? They usually contain very few ingredients so the risk they're gonna cause any negative reactions like irritations or breakouts is much smaller. The Body Shop makes a pure mineral foundation that's pretty good or there are lots of indie mineral makeup companies that make them too.

Hey there, i'm trying to find the right foundation for my skin? For some reason i can't seem to find the right foundation for my skin. With what ever foundation i seem to buy it never looks good on my skin ... I buy powder foundtion & liquid foundation. I find that when i wear these different types of foundation i seem to break out in spots when i wash it off at bedtime I'm not happy about this. So I'm just wondering can you please help me choose the right foundation for my skin type? ... I wouldn't say my skin is very dry i do have sensitive skin. Can you please tell me what type of foundation to use whether its powder or liquid? & what store i can purchase it from. thanks Louise x
